Happy Halloween! What better way to wrap things up than with some novelty candy corn!Brach's Fall Festival Candy Corn has 6 distinct flavors:
I had a blast streaming with Queenz Dragon yesterday. If you missed out, be sure to watch the replay, if you do, you can see me try these disgusting candy corn live. (Spoiler alert, I nearly killed my friend.)
I was doing so well with posting, and then I dropped the ball last night. I came home from streaming, took off my cat ears, opened my browser with the intent to write today's post and....the google doodle got me. It's the freaking ghost game! It's back!
I love this game. So, after playing way too many rounds...it was time to prep for Trick or Treaters and go to bed. I'm still posting before midnight, so I'm going to count this as a win.
So, for my final Halloween post (I still have plenty of fall stuff on deck), I have the official, typed up, version of these gross Football-themed candycorn we tried on stream.
Kudos to Red Vines for taking a risk and releasing two different Halloween products, these Candy Corn Twists and these Ghoulish Grape Ropes (Which I couldn't find in-store.)
Grape ropes seem to be a solid, extruded, grape candy, which is a departure from their usual hollow straws. By comparison, this is just a flavor variant, but a fun seasonal one! (It's not a regular Red Vine, it's a cool-Red Vine.)
It's officially spooky season and I am so excited! Time to pop on a horror movie (Trick r' Treat is currently on HBO) and crack into some candy corn, but not just any candy corn, Nerds Candy Corn.
Because I'm a hamster-human hybrid, and a heartbeat away from being on a special food-themed episode of Hoarders, I'm still finding random food items squirreled away in my moving boxes. I think these came out last year? Maybe last spring? I don't really remember when I bought them, but thanks to the Target exclusive logo at the very top, I do know WHERE I bought them. So, that's something.
Limited Edition Candy Corn is not an avenue I really specialize in. I'm no candy corn hater, I dig the classics, but a lot of the specialty limited edition stuff just doesn't work for me. Especially not in a full-sized bag. If they came in fruit-snack-sized pouches I'd try a lot more of them, but I've thrown way too much money, and stale nibbled on candy corn, in the trash to continue taking risks on one-off flavors just for reviewing purposes.
Yet, for some reason, I still bought this one? Maybe the allure of brunch was just too much for me to ignore. Anyway, past me bought it, and now present me (or not-as-past me, depending on when you read this review) is gonna eat it.
Way back, in 2013, I was blogging about food exclusively on the Sometimes Foodie Tumblr, and even though I've been slowly adding the old reviews to this main blog, this one slipped past my radar. Look at this old packaging!! I miss the twist tie top... So here is what I though of the Candy Corn Oreos back when I was a food blogging-baby. (Complete with my old watermarks.)Candy Corn OREO - Target : Cherry Hill, NJ
As most of you foodies know, these special limited edition Oreos are going to be made available TOMORROW (Monday, September 10th) only at Target stores. Well, somehow my local Target put them out early…and I got them on the 7th! I didn’t even know about the exclusive release date until my sister and Katya (over on my Facebook page) mentioned it!
So here they are! Candy Corn Oreos!
Prep your skeletons, Halloween is right around the corner, so I'll be posting seasonal snacks all this week!
Today I've got another double review lined up for you guys, but first, Target, I've got a bone to pick with you.

There's not much of a backstory for these seasonal sweets. I was walking around Target, saw the display, and into my cart they went.
Each one is wrapped in a sheet of wax paper and sealed with a sticker, so there's not much for me to critique as far as packaging, and since these are so small, I figured I might as well mash all three up into one review!
Okay, step one of my candy corn experiment was a success. The Apple Pie candy corn was (surprisingly) enjoyable and authentically flavored, so now we can move on to step two. Is it truly any different than this caramel apple candy corn? Or did they just swap the colors and slap a new label on it?
When people ask me if I like candy corn, I typically say no, but looking through my blog...I think I subconsciously like it more than I let on. I've reviewed candy corn flavored soda, cereal, coffee, cotton candy, Oreos and all kinds of seasonal candy corn flavors, why do I keep buying candy corn themed things when I say I don't like actual candy corn?
I think I buy it because I want to see if companies are really pushing the flavor limits, or if they're just cashing in on gimmicky flavor-names. I mean, it's easy to come up with a flashy concept, like apple pie flavored candy corn, but does it actually taste like apple pie? Or this this just glorified artificial apple with a glitzy name? My buddy Nate, who is always finding me awesome foodie stuff to review, picked up two different apple flavored candy corns for me to try, and I'm going to review them both to see if they taste any different.
First up, Apple pie!
I spent all of October searching for this cereal. I tried Wegman's, Shop Rite, Walmarts, Targets, and no one had it on the shelves. Yesterday I went to Target (it's now November) to snatch up some clearance Halloween goodies, and there it is! Fully stocked! They didn't put it out on the shelves until November? What sense does that make? Urg, part of me thought I shouldn't get them, because who knows if any of you can even find these in your area, but the satisfaction of finally buying them was just too much to resist.
I have a confession to make, I'm not a fan of candy corn. While I'm not an avid candy corn hater, it's way too sweet for me, so I very rarely buy or consume it. (Although I do have the occasional nibble here and there, and when I do, I always eat it section by section.) My boyfriend on the other hand, loves this stuff. He buys several bags of it every fall to fill the candy jar in his living room, and he's always looking for new crazy flavors to try. So when I told him there was a new flavor of candy corn that combined his fall favorite with a bit of coffee (his other food-obsession), he was all about it.
Another Halloween themed Jones soda.
Check out my Jone's Caramel Apple soda review HERE.
I already covered a lot of the design points in my last review, so I'm going to keep this short and sweet. (Just like the soda can.)
I hope you all had an awesome Halloween!
This is going to be a quickie review. I still have some Halloween treats to finish out the week, so pumpkin posts will resume on Monday.
Here's another seasonal Dollar Tree find.
It seems like this Fun Sweets brand has been releasing tons of seasonal cotton candy tubs. (Check out my banana Easter cotton candy tub review HERE.) I have reviewed a few of them so far, and up until now the flavors have been fairly generic but satisfying. This is the first time I am seeing a flavor that is supposed to mimic another candy, so I'm excited to see how it turned out.
