Krispy Kreme Doughnut Jelly Belly Beans - Five Below

As a kid, my grandparents always had jelly beans in their house, but they were either Brach's fruit or spiced flavors, and I was perfectly fine with that, until we discovered Jelly Belly. Flavors like strawberry jam and chocolate pudding blew Brach's out of the water. There was no going back. I remember my mom would buy the large variety boxes of jelly beans with "recipes" printed on the lid and we'd have fun mixing and matching flavors to create new experiences, which was a completely new concept. It was like something out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. 

Now-a-days, I appreciate Jelly Belly's contributions to the candy world, but their products just don't "wow" me like they used to. Maybe all their competition catching up to them with the wacky flavor and mixing trend is drowning out their achievements, maybe their products just aren't as good as they used to be, or maybe my adult taste-buds are just harder to impress. All legitimate factors, but I just don't feel excitement for this brand anymore.

The new Krispy Kreme doughnuts I posted about last week have been released and (thanks to my mom) I was able to get my hands on 2/3 flavors. 

She sent me a text saying her appointment was near a Krispy Kreme shop and she generously grabbed me a Tiramisu and a Crème Brûlée doughnut. (Thanks mom!) They were out of the Churro variety, but to be honest, that one seemed rather lazy to me. It's just a cruller dusted with cinnamon sugar, and I doubt it's really worth checking out, so without further delay, let's get this review started!

I was looking at the Krispy Kreme website to see what's new, since I'll probably be picking up a dozen this weekend, and this is what greeted me on the home page. 

Churro seems like a little bit of a cop-out, since it appears to be nothing more than a doughnut with a cinnamon and sugar coating, but the other two sound pretty yummy. I'll have to keep my eye out for release dates.

There are only 11 days left in November?! When they heck did that happen? I guess my aversion to all things wintery, cold, and Santa-related made me lose track of time, and guess what? I still have a massive pile of pumpkin products to get through! I better get started...

Pumpkin Doughnuts return SEPT 1st!

The delicious and pumpkin-y seasonal sweets are already starting to reappear on the shelves, but thankfully Krispy Kreme is holding off until September. I love pumpkin as much as the next food blogger, but August is just too early!

Be sure to try the Summer Classic flavors at Krispy Kreme, Banana Pudding and Carrot Cake, before they get replaced!

You have to admit, this combination is kind of a no-brainer, but I don't think anyone has ever done it before. (At least not in ice cream form.) This item was posted on The Impulsive Buy a few days ago, and I knew I had to get it for this weekend.

As I have mentioned before, my boyfriend loves coffee, but he also loves ice cream, and this week was very tiring and trying for both of us, so a little ice creamy treat was well deserved. Let's see if this frozen breakfast-y flavor combination is actually successful!

Mocha Kreme Doughnut- Krispy Kreme - Collingswood, NJ 

Krispy Kreme's Caramel Coffee Kreme doughnut was pretty impressive, and it actually tasted like coffee and caramel. My coffee addicted boyfriend loved it, and I really enjoyed it too, so I highly recommend grabbing one before this flavor disappears. Now, let's see if the Mocha version is worth checking out.

Creme & Cookie Dough Filled Heart Shaped Doughnuts - Dunkin' Donuts

Dunkin' Donuts brought back their festive, heart-shaped, doughnuts for Valentine's Day and they've added a new filling, chocolate chip cookie dough! (First Oreos AND now a doughnut filling? 2014 has just begun and it's already looking like a big year for cookie dough.)

I don't pre-made baked goods very often, so when I do splurge on something sugary I want it to be interesting. (Or at the very least photogenic.) We'll see which category these heart-shaped doughnuts fall into.
