Strawberry Frosted Donut Oreos - GiftAnother Oreo I was going to skip, because I was pretty sure this was more gimmick than anything else, but a friend bought these and demanded I try them, so here we are. Was my assumption correct? Or will these blow my mind?
The companion Pop-Tart to yesterday's review, today we have Chocolate Mocha!
Kind of a redundant name, don't you think? With "mocha" the chocolate is usually implied. I mean, a cafe mocha is milk, espresso (some times places use plain ol' coffee) and a hint of chocolate. It's like calling chocolate milk, "chocolaty chocolate milk." Perhaps the chocolate here refers to the chocolate pastry shell? Oh well, enough semantics, let's eat!
How could I go to Dunkin' Donuts for coffee and NOT get a doughnut? That's just unnatural.
I already had plans to go to Dunkin' on my way home to grab the pistachio iced coffees (reviewed here), but right before my work day ended I saw Matt Zion's post that there was a new doughnut available for spring 2016. I figured, why not kill two food-review-birds with one stone and try both in one go?
Back in college I lived off of espresso shots and caramel, but now-a-days I just drink water out of my oh so classy giant Walmart mason jar. I know that sounds super hipster-y, but trust me, I don't use it for the look. I use it because it's huge (it's a quart-sized soup jar for canning), and since it's nice and big, I only have to refill it 2-3 times a day. (I drink a LOT of water and constantly refilling a normal sized cup is annoying.I'mlazy.) Coffee got me through a lot of tough times in college, but I don't need that boost of energy in my every day life. (At least not yet.) I'll drink it maybe 4-5 times a year, but when Junk Banter posted a photo of Pistachio iced coffee at Dunkin' Donuts...I knew I was in trouble.
Watch out world, I'm caffeinated! (Be afraid. Be very afraid.)
Oh man, that long weekend wasn't relaxing at all! I don't know about the rest of you, but I am super sore and more tired now than I was when I left work on Friday. Then again, I did go to First Friday in Philly, and the next day I hosted a BBQ where I cooked a ton of food, and the day after that I went back to Philly to paint a room in my grandfather's house (including the ceiling) and to top it all off, yesterday I went through my giant backlogged food-hoard and photographed a ton of stuff to get ready for the upcoming pumpkin-fest that is fall.
Oh well, at least this will be a short work week.
We're all heading back to school and work, and what better way to celebrate than with a doughnut for breakfast.
I wasn't planning on reviewing this drink, but my awesome boss treated us to some Dunkin' this morning and I couldn't resist a free foodie item to review. (If you're reading this, THANK YOU!)
That's right! The newest items to join the cookie dough craze are a Dunkin' Donuts coffee and latte. At first, it seemed like cookie dough was going to be a flavor trend for 2014, since two limited edition cookie dough items were released one right after another, but the trend petered out as quickly as it began. After a month of cookie-dough-less items, Dunkin' decided to revive the trend with these dessert coffees. After reviewing the unimpressive Cookie Dough Oreos, and a filled doughnut, I was a bit skeptical of this coffee, so I'm going into this review with fairly low expectations.
Dunkin' Donuts brought back their festive, heart-shaped, doughnuts for Valentine's Day and they've added a new filling, chocolate chip cookie dough! (First Oreos AND now a doughnut filling? 2014 has just begun and it's already looking like a big year for cookie dough.)
I don't pre-made baked goods very often, so when I do splurge on something sugary I want it to be interesting. (Or at the very least photogenic.) We'll see which category these heart-shaped doughnuts fall into.
