Give Us a Mystery! - Herr's Mystery Mix - 9/7/2021 UPDATE

Herr's Mystery Flavor - 7-Eleven

Three classic flavors in one chip, eh? The contest ended on August 31st, 2021, let's see what my guesses were and if I was right!

So the chip itself is a reddish orange, ridged, with little flecks of green. When I think of Herr's classic flavors, I think BBQ (gold bag), Sour Cream and Onion (green bag), and original (blue bag), but that seems way too easy. How could they have a giveaway contest if that were the case?

The website lists the following as flavor options that could be part of the trio of this mix: sour cream and onion, BBQ, salt & vinegar, cheddar and sour cream, honey BBQ, red hot, fire, ketchup, old bay, dill pickle, cracked pepper and sea salt, jalapeno, boardwalk salt and vinegar, mesquite BBQ, and Cheddar Horseradish.

Time to binge on some chips and make some guesses.

Every Little Thing, Gonna be Alright - Everything Brioche Bagels

Everything Brioche Bagels
- Aldi

Is there anything more comforting than a toasty bagel filled with cheese, egg, and bacon (my breakfast meat of choice) on a cold winter morning? Especially after shoveling snow. Just thinking about it makes me feel warm and cozy.

While the east coast NJ/NY/PA area has always taken their bagels quite seriously, it seems like other food-stuffs have taken notice and bagels, or more specifically "everything," has become an American obsession.

In the past year we've had everything bagel seasoning in several flavor variations from tons of different brands (including Aldi), everything bagel potato chips, and even everything bagel ice cream!

Personally I prefer onion bagels, you get similar flavor but less stuff all up in your teeth, but I get it. The mixture of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried onions, dried garlic, and sea salt can amp up any savory breakfast sandwich combo, but we all know what it tastes like. So, when I spotted a brioche version at Aldi I thought I would see if changing the base would make a huge difference.

Panera's French Onion Soup is back! Does it taste the same?

New Bistro French Onion Soup (in a Bread Bowl) - Panera Bread
A few months ago Panera removed a bunch of their beloved menu items and people lost their sh*t.

Among the items removed were the whole grain baguette, the Chipotle Chicken sandwich (one of Panera's only spicy offerings), and their French Onion Soup. When I was in college I worked as a trainer at Panera bread for several years, and I saw a lot of products come and go, but these things were menu-staples! I would sell countless Chipotle sandwiches everyday, we had customers who only came in for those whole grain baguettes and modified their sandwiches to come on them, and that soup? That was an every-freaking-day soup! What in the world possessed them to remove it?

That's right, it's back, and it's all natural and healthy. Before you start rejoicing, the recipe has changed...A LOT. It's better for you, but does it still taste as good? I'll let you know this weekend!

Irish Champ - Pinterest Recipe Review

Irish Champ - Pinterest Recipe Review : The PIN The RECIPE
Happy Saint Patrick's Day! I forgot this holiday was coming up so soon! I ended up remembering late last Sunday night, so I didn't feel like running out and buying a ton of ingredients since my fridge is already bursting at the seams, so I googled Irish recipes using some ingredients I had on hand and this awesome recipe for Irish Champ popped up!

Instant Corn Potage Soup - H-Mart: Cherry Hill, NJ

Instant Corn Potage Soup - H-Mart: Cherry Hill, NJ
I woke up this morning, looked outside my window, and everything was covered in snow. We only got two inches, and I know many of you get a LOT more snow in your area and my piddly little amount is nothing to complain about, but I just hate winter. I'm a total Scrooge about the holidays and I hate being cold. Snow is fun when you're a little kid. You sometimes get out of school, you have snowball fights, build forts, it's magical and whimsical and fun. Once you have your own car, and your college or job won't close unless it's the end of times, and even then you're lucky if you get a 2-hour delay, snow looses a lot of it's appeal.

Since it's cold and snowy, what better way to warm up than with a bowl of soup?
