Are you sick of Girl Scout reviews? You're in luck! This is the last item I've got in my stash. (Until I find the caramel breakfast cereal anyway.) It may not be as exciting as the promise of cookies for breakfast, or as innovative as caramel coconut flavored chewing gum, but this was the product I was most excited for because a mint-cookie-to-breath-mint transition makes perfect sense.

Kiss of Fresh Air (Breath Freshener Sprays) - Gift
After eating a bag of sugary sweet octopus balls, made with actual octopus extract, you might not want to have a conversation too close to me. When I'm at home I have plenty of opportunities to clean and re-fresh my breath, but when I'm at work, and I'm eating leftover wacky food-blog-stuff at my desk, I don't have the opportunity to brush my teeth before dealing with my clients face-to-face.
A while ago the people behind KISS of Fresh Air breath freshening spray sent me a message asking if I'd like to try their products, and I said, "Sure!" To be completely transparent, the company sent me this stuff for free, but this is not sponsored. I'm just a food blogger with octopus-breath trying some free breath-sprays and letting you know what I think of the flavors.
KISS' line-up includes a classic mint, but that's a breath freshening standard. We all know how that one's going to taste, so I rather talk about their wacky dessert-flavored sprays, like Raspberry Whipped Cream!

Peppermint Crunch Junior Mints - Target? (I think...)
Peppermint Crunch Junior Mints - Target? (I think...)
One more day until the weekend. Just one more day. We can do this...I can do this.
It's been another really intense week with my day job and side-work, for a closer look at all the stuff I do besides food blogging check out my personal/art blog HERE, but for now, let's dig into my giant food-stash for a minty, Christmas-y, #tbt review!

Peppermint Oreo - Target
Peppermint Oreo - Target
I'm all for these snazzy limited edition Oreos, but this one seems like overkill. I mean, there's the normal green-filled mint flavored Oreos available year-round, a thin version of the same flavor, these limited edition Candy Cane themed ones I reviewed a few years back, and now a Peppermint? Is peppermint distinct enough from classic mint to warrant it's own flavor? I guess we'll find out!

Chimes Ginger Chews - Peppermint, Peanut Butter & Orange
I bought that bag of Chimes classic ginger chews well before the Fancy Food Show, because I loved the packaging. So when I saw them at the Fancy Food Show, I had to stop by and tell them how much I loved their designs.
While I was at their table I grabbed a few samples of their other flavors to try, so here's a handy, dandy, little sampler review!

Trader Joe-Joe's (Candy Cane) - Trader Joe's: Marlton, NJ
Happy New Year everyone! So a wrench was kind of thrown into the works last night, and I didn't get to be at my PC like I originally planned. I already had all the photos edited and ready to go, so I"ll be posting a few reviews today, and I'll be posting some new items in my etsy shop. Although I don't really make New Year's resolutions, I am trying to kick off 2015 by being super productive, so let's get this review started!

Candy Cane Trident Layers - Target: Marlton, NJ
Candy Cane Trident Layers - Target: Marlton, NJ
I'm running out of time! I'm going to knock out as many holiday reviews as I can this week! Next up, some seasonal gum! Will this really taste any different than all the other peppermint chewing gums out there?

Project 7 Peppermint Vanilla Mints - Jo Ann Fabrics: Cherry Hill, NJ
I've seen this brand mentioned on a few foodie blogs, and I always thought the flavor selection and packaging were really cool! (Plus the logo reminds me of Dr. Who.) I've been searching fancy grocery stores, like Whole Foods, trying to find a few flavors to review, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I needed some new palette knives, so I stopped at Jo Ann Fabrics on my way home, and I saw this (and another of their items I'll be reviewing in the new year) in the impulse-buy area. Really? Of all places, the craft store? When did Jo Ann's get so hip and cool?
I grabbed a package of each of the items I saw and headed home, since this is minty I thought I'd knock out this review while candy canes are still in season.

Peppermint Roca - Target - Cherry Hill, NJ
Peppermint Roca - Target - Cherry Hill, NJ
Some of you might have noticed, but I haven't been posting any winter and holiday themed candy. Truth is, I'm a bit of a Scrooge. Right after Thanksgiving the stores become insane, radio stations play nonstop Christmas music, and lawns are covered in giant inflatable snowmen. It's just not my cup of tea. (Plus I hate winter and cold weather.) Don't get me wrong, I love baking sweets and giving gifts to my loved ones, but I'm more of a Halloween kinda girl.
Although I have been avoiding stores and holiday candies, I just had to pick this up. Apparently I have been living under a rock, because I had no idea that Almond Roca came in new flavors. (It seems like I've been under this rock a long time, since this flavor came out in 2003. Whoops.)
The packaging is very shiny, so it catches your eye easily, but that made it difficult to photograph. (So. Much. Glare.) Simple, but retro, the design is a mixture of white, silver, and red. I feel like the stripes give me more of a mint-y feeling than a Christmas-y one, but I'm not sure if this the standard packaging, or a seasonal one. (Does anyone know?) Either way, I like that it is festive while being nostalgic and classy.

West Soy Chocolate Peppermint Stick - Wegman’s: Cherry Hill, NJ
West Soy Chocolate Peppermint Stick - Wegman’s: Cherry Hill, NJ
About three years ago I tried this for the first time….now I buy it every year! (After the holidays when it goes on sale.) Plus I get to try out my new sugar-skull cups! (Thank you Matt and Sean!)
The box is made of a thick, waxy, foiled paper. There is a plastic pour-spout at the top, which is quite common for this type of packaging, and very convenient. The packaging design is nothing really eye catching, but the picture of the beverage is really appealing.
The beverage smells and tastes a lot like Yoo-hoo with a hint of candy-canes. The mint flavor isn’t very strong, but it really adds something to the drink.
Since this beverage is soy-based, so it is great for people who can’t have dairy! It can be served hot, or cold, so you can use it as a chocolate milk OR a hot cocoa.
Even though I have no problems with dairy, I love this drink and happily buy it every year. I highly recommend it. (Plus it is great to have on hand just in case someone at your party is lactose intolerant.)

White Chocolate Peppermint m&m’s - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
White Chocolate Peppermint m&m’s - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
I just reviewed mint m&m’s, will peppermint be any different?
This time, the design is not as elegant. Red m&m has a holiday hat and candies are scattered about. I found it to be a bit obnoxious, even though it is rather simple.
The candies smell a bit like cocoa butter, and they are covered in a dusty powder. They are pretty big. (Almost twice the size of the mint variety I reviewed yesterday.)
The white chocolate inside is rich and creamy, but the peppermint is very weak. I really like white chocolate, and these were yummy, but if they are saying they are peppermint flavored…I want to really taste the peppermint.
If I had to pick one, I’d stick with the mint chocolate m&m’s and skip this white chocolate version entirely.

Mint Truffle Hershey’s Kisses - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
Mint Truffle Hershey’s Kisses - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
Another minty holiday confection. Hershey’s released a bunch of holiday themed kisses this season, candy cane, cherry, caramel, and mint truffle. I love minty candy (and baking holiday goodies) so I grabbed a few different flavors.
The package feels small in my hands. (I remember the portion being larger as a kid.) This is definitely enough for a batch of cookies. I like the color of the packaging and the overall design is very consistent with the candy cane and pumpkin spiced kisses. (I always like consistency in packaging design.)

Candy Cane Peeps Dipped in Chocolate - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
Although I was excited for the sugar cookie Peeps (also dipped in chocolate) I couldn’t find them this year. Instead, I found the candy cane variety.
The package is small, it only holds three Peeps, but that is the perfect amount for decorating a gingerbread house.
When I opened the package I couldn’t smell any mint, but I could smell chocolate. The chocolatey aroma is sweet with a hint of cocoa powder.

CandyCane Oreos - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
CandyCane Oreos - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
Oreo released two different limited edition flavors for the holidays. Walmart got the gingerbread variety I reviewed before, and Target got these candy cane ones.
Target seems to get the better packaging every time. They have the bags that reseal at the top and allow the tray to slide out. I like these bags a lot more, but both get the job done.
The cookies have a light minty scent, much sweeter than the normal mint Oreos, these have a lot more vanilla in the aroma. The creme inside is two toned, like the candy corn flavor released this fall, and there are little sprinkles to add a crunchy texture.
These taste very sweet and mild, I like these a lot more than the gingerbread. (But I am VERY picky when it comes to gingerbread.) These are definitely more of a candy cane peppermint, than a straight up mint flavor.

White Chocolate Peppermint Pringles - Target : Cherry Hill, NJ
White Chocolate Peppermint Pringles - Target : Cherry Hill, NJ
When I saw the promo picture back in October for sweet Pringles I was really excited. Just look at it! The packaging is adorable, and matches the flavor. I have no complaints about it at all.
After I opened the canister, I really couldn’t smell anything. No mint. No white chocolate. That was really surprising. Inside, the chips looked like normal original flavor. I expected them to be coated in white chocolate, or to have flecks of minty candy.
I have had chocolate covered potato chips before, and they were delicious, so I assumed that these sweet Pringles would be great too.
Wrong.
I don’t know what the guys in the flavor department were thinking! The chips taste like original, SALTY, chips with a VERY light dusting of minty powdered sugar. I really wish that more effort was put into making them taste better. This idea has so much potential!
I wouldn’t recommend picking this flavor up. AT ALL. This one was a real disappointment, and I hope the cinnamon sugar flavor is better.

Mint Pocky - Asian Food Market: Cherry Hill, NJ
Mint Pocky - Asian Food Market: Cherry Hill, NJ
'Tis the season for all things minty.
Tonight my boyfriend and I are seeing a screening of the Puella Magi Modaka Magica movies, and since he likes minty things AND his favorite character is Kyoko, I am bringing this Mint Pocky along on our date. (Of course I have to sample it AND review it first!)
The box is adorable! It’s covered in silver text, mint leaves, and teal stripes. All of the colors are cool-toned, which really plays up the mint theme. Pocky packaging has never let me down. The boxes are always well designed and thought out.

Candy Cane Kisses - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
I am not a winter person. I don’t like all the holiday madness or the freezing cold temperatures, but something I DO love about the season is all the peppermint flavored goodies. Candy canes, peppermint mocha’s, Andes mints….all of them are delicious!
I’m not sure if these candy cane Kisses are new, but this was the first year I had seen them.
The bag’s layout is the same as the pumpkin spiced Kisses, but with a (obvious) winter theme. I really like how the white background makes the images pop!
