Butter Chicken Meal Kit - Aldi

Butter Chicken Meal Kit - Aldi
For years I've been looking for a dupe for this discontinued Archer Farms meal kit. It was so freaking good! According to what I've read online, the general public complained that it was too spicy, so it was discontinued and replaced with a lame mild version that doesn't taste as good. BOO!

When I saw that Aldi had a few Journey to India meal kits a while back, I scooped them up, hoping that one of them would be worthy of taking the Archer Farms meal kit's place.

The meal kit I loved was Vindaloo, and spicy, and this is Butter Chicken, which is more mild. Now this flavor won't be exactly what I'm looking for, but it's more palate friendly for my spice-intolerant family, so I decided to cook this one up first so we could all eat dinner together.

Sushi Bowl Teaser Post

Sushi Bowl Teaser Post
Feel like you can never get enough sushi? Neither can I, so I made giant sushi style rice bowls with my boyfriend and the results were delicious!

If you follow me on instagram this dish might look familiar, basically I wanted to see if I could make something simple to satisfy my sushi cravings at home, and I did!

I plan on making this again in the near future, and when I do I'll have my proper photo set-up near by, but these are the only pictures I have of the original recipe-test-run.

Vindaloo Archer Farms Meal Kit - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ

Vindaloo Archer Farms Meal Kit - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
Some of you might remember this kit from my Target Mini-haul video. I picked it up about a month ago when I saw it in the clearance section. The box was dented, so I'm not too sure if it was discounted because of the damage, or because it's being discontinued. (It was the only box in the store so I had nothing to compare it to.) I was really interested in this kit because it looks similar to go go-to order from IndeBlue, so if this turns out to be really tasty and it's discontinued, that'll be a real shame.

Chicken Cutlet Curry - Terakawa Ramen : Philadelphia, PA

Chicken Cutlet Curry - Terakawa Ramen : Philadelphia,  PA
Sorry I missed yesterday’s post, I was in Chinatown with some friends celebrating Sean’s Birthday. (You might remember that I made him a birthday cake POSTED HERE.)
We rode the train into the city to grab lunch at Terakawa Ramen, and then we explored Chinatown to do some shopping. (I’ll post a mini haul to show you what I bought, but photos and reviews will be coming up soon.)
Terakawa Ramen is a relatively new restaurant here in Philly, it opened last July so it is almost 1 year old and it’s already getting good reviews. (There is a location in NY too.) The restaurant is very narrow, but that is typical for the buildings in Philly’s Chinatown. Thankfully the restaurant makes great use of the limited space. There are about 12 small tables available, and the seats at each table are small square stools that allow you to store bags underneath them (great for purses or your small shopping bags). If you’re not with a group or a party of people you can grab a seat at the bar.

I guess it’s kind of silly that I didn’t order ramen, since the place is called Terakawa Ramen and all, but I was in the mood for curry. The chicken cutlet curry platter came with a small green salad, white rice, sliced chicken cutlet, and delicious curry sauce with diced veggies. It was very reasonably priced and potions were HUGE. I wasn’t able to finish everything in one sitting so I had to take the last of my curry to-go.

Chicken Teriyaki and Amanda Roll -Mikado : Cherry Hill, NJ

Chicken Teriyaki and Amanda Roll
-Mikado : Cherry Hill, NJ
My sister and I went out to lunch today, and since I was craving sushi, we decided to go to Mikado. (I actually reviewed this place before and talked a bit about the atmosphere, here’s my last review.)
I ordered:
  • 1 Amanda Roll
  • Chicken Teriyaki Lunch Box
Mikado has an amazing lunch menu. (Plus you get a LOT for your money.) The “lunch box” special is $9.00 and there are a bunch of options to choose from: curry, sushi, teriyaki, yakitori, and many more. With that, you get a salad, miso soup, a spring roll, 4 California rolls, and white (or brown) rice. I chose the teriyaki style chicken and my sister picked the yakitori chicken. That was plenty of food already, but I HAD to get the Amanda roll. My sister’s name is Amanda, so it was too quirky a coincidence to pass up.
The food was delicious. (I’ve already raved about the ginger carrot salad dressing, so I’ll skip over that.)

Tuna Onigiri

Tuna Onigiri
Another treat my boyfriend picked up at the Cherry Blossom Festival! Tuna Onigiri!

He really enjoyed it. Years ago I made onigiri before with my sister but we just filled them with random things we had around. This one was filled with cooked tuna. Yummm.
