Super Lemon - Asian Food Market : Cherry Hill, NJ
Look at this packaging! Honestly, the packaging alone made me want this candy.
The overall design is very similar to Roy Lichtenstein’s
work with it’s bright colors and comic book paneling. The back of the
package actually has a mini comic showing a woman eating some Super
Lemon and exclaiming, “Oh! Powerful candy!” with a little diagram giving
us more information about the candy itself.
I am not sure what the packaging is made of, it has a
recycled brown paper texture and color to it, but a waxy/plastic feel.
The bag is small but it is filled to the brim with candy. I love that! (It isn’t mostly air like most American candies or foods.)
By now you can see that I love the packaging, but what about the candy inside?
The candy itself is pretty large, larger than I thought it would be, and covered in a super fine sour powder.
As soon as I put it in my mouth, I knew this candy was just like Warheads! (90’s kids know what I’m talking about!)
The outside is covered in a very fine lemon-flavored sour powder, that
gives way to a sweet lemonade-like layer of hard candy, and then the
center tastes just like lemon juice! The center has a authentic lemon
juice taste, but it isn’t as sour as the powdered layer.
If you like Lemonheads and Warheads (which I do) then you’ll love these! I love everything about this candy and I will be buying more!
