Dorayaki - Asian Food Market: Cherry Hill, NJ

Dorayaki - Asian Food Market: Cherry Hill, NJ
Dorayaki are made by putting two pancake-like sponge cakes together with red bean paste in the middle. If you read manga, or watch anime, these should look familiar.
There really isn’t much to the packaging, it’s all clear, keeps the dorayaki fresh, and keeps everything together. (So I’ll skip over that.)
The outside of the dorayaki smells sweet, like a yellow cake, and it’s perfectly formed. (Like a little flying saucer.)
I was pleasantly surprised, because I was able to get some red bean on the first bite! The cakey outside is light and fluffy, like a sponge cake, and the inside if full of delicious red bean paste.
If you’ve never had red bean paste before, the name can be a little off putting. Beans? In my baked goods? No Thanks. But in reality it tastes like a peanut butter. The beans have been sweetened, and there is a sort of nutty-ness to them. The texture of the paste reminds me of soft marzipan.
Even though these are prepackaged, they still taste really fresh. I would definitely buy these again!
