Mandarin Key Lime oogavé - Home Goods :Moorestown, NJ

Mandarin Key Lime oogavé - Home Goods :Moorestown, NJ
This is my first post from my Home Goods Haul. I love window shopping for furniture, but the Home Goods foodie section has interesting stuff too. (Like this strawberry sugar.) During my last trip I picked up a few bottled sodas and jams.

I feel like this brand has a minimalistic design, even though the logo is a bit elaborate. (Since is has those little bushes/leaves above the ‘oo.’) Logo aside, the text and images are kept to a minimum.

With a green gradient background and crisp text the cardboard tote has a very refreshing design. Just looking at it makes me feel calm, which is a good thing. Not all beverages need to be so in-your-face with their design elements. Even the bottles are minimally designed. They are crystal clear and the only major design element on them is the logo itself.

Once opened, it smells like lime soda with mandarin cocktail syrup mixed in. The lime scent is stronger than the mandarin, but that doesn’t bother me, it kinda smells like rainbow sherbet.

This isn’t a combination I would have thought to put together in a soda, but I am interested in how these flavors will taste together.

I was pretty impressed after my first sip. Most organic, or natural, sodas have left an artificial sweetener taste in my mouth. This doesn’t. As far as the flavoring goes, I’m a bit surprised by how strong the mandarin notes turned out to be. The scent may have been lime heavy, but the taste is much more mandarin. It is bubbly, satisfying, and the citrus flavors really cleanse the palette.

Over ice, this is a fantastically refreshing summer soda. (Plus it is only 100 calories per bottle. Great for swimsuit season.)
