Cookie Cola - Oreo x Coca-Cola (Cookies and Soda)

Another Coke Creations flavor that is only available in Zero Sugar. Boo. I seem to be in the minority of people who can't consume alternative sugars. Even so, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to give this a try. At least they're mini cans.

Oof, these cookies look like they've been through it. I've got crème filling smeared everywhere, but even though the cookies look shaken up, they're 100% intact.

The red portions aren't helping. While they have fun Coke-themed 3D illustrations, they show every lump, bump, and flaw. The texture is giving meat-patty, or Play-Dough, and the color is giving "not food." Definitely one of the least appealing Oreos I've ever photographed.

I found three different cookie designs to photograph, and there might be more, but I didn't feel like probing too far into the packaging.

Taking a bite of the cookie, the filling seems to be the same texture as it always is, firm and shortening-like, so I am not sure why this package was such a mess.

I opted to try each component on it's own.

The red portion of the cookie didn't offer much flavor, I think it might be a Golden Oreo colored red, but I feel like those normally taste better than this. Maybe the colorant messed with it's flavoring. Not much else to report there. Red is crispy, but near flavorless.

Classic cocoa side tasted like a normal chocolate Oreo cookie, so it was vastly superior.

All the cola flavoring lies in the crème.

The filling has all the popping candy, sweetness, and a light cola-like flavoring. It slightly reminds me of Haribo cola bottles, but with a third of the potency in terms of cola flavoring.

Overall, these are actually rather mild, the popping candy is bolder to me than the cola aspect, which is both a blessing and a curse. I think the milder flavor allows these to be more versatile. You can easily pair these with milk or use them as an inclusion in brownies (like I tend to do) without alienating anyone's tastebuds, but as a novelty item, these are pretty weak sauce.

I'm glad I tried them, and I'll likely use these up as mix-ins for a Dr.Pepper-esque batch of brownies, but once these disappear, I won't miss them. I don't think this particular flavor combination, or it's execution, is something everyone has to experience.

Soda Time!

Opened up and poured into a glass, this looks like normal brown-cola. It's when you get close and give it a sniff, a totally normal thing to do to a soda, you smell sweet chocolate cookies and crème. The aroma is surprisingly authentic. If this were a candle or a lotion, I'd be really excited, but as a cola, more-specifically a zero-sugar cola, I'm a bit nervous.

Taking a sip, this feels flatter than usual. Since I can't have Zero-sugar sodas, I'm not sure if this is a trait unique to this particular flavor, or if this is a zero-sugar thing. As far as the diet\zero-sugar soda is concerned, this doesn't taste -that- bad. The cookie inspired flavoring is definitely bold and present, I get "Oreo" right away, but I also get fake sugar. Lots of it. Surprisingly, unlike other limited edition Coca-Cola flavors, this is more cookie-flavored than it is cola.

I can only tolerate a few sips before I get a headache, or possible vertigo. I really wish this came out in a corn-syrup\full sugar version, since I can't ingest too much artificial sweetener without having medical issues, but I am guessing they opted for Zero-sugar because of it's popularity. But also because having this be sugar-free somehow negates the overindulgence of a cookie flavored soda.

If I could ingest this without a problem, I think it would still be a bit too sweet for my sipping habits, but I'm actually impressed with this one.
