Little Debbie Mini Strawberry Donuts - Walmart

I don't like to bash products, and I tend to be a savvy shopper with good intuition. Very rarely I will indulge in a bad product if it's super cheap and good for a laugh, but this product is neither. (Well it was cheap, but not super cheap.) 

 I saw these doughnuts at Walmart and they reminded me of the Tastykake spring strawberry version that was out this time last year. I enjoyed those a lot more than I thought I would, so I figured I'd take a chance and see what little Debbie had to offer. After all, Little Debbie makes some really tasty pumpkin cookies. How bad could these be?

The packaging for these doughnuts is nowhere near as cute as the Tastykake version, but you can't judge a book by it's cover, right?

I opened up the bag, and the mini doughnuts inside smelled like...what I can only describe as sugar wax and Nesquik. It's a really weird aroma that's reminiscent of Wax Lips, which I like, but I don't want my baked goods to smell like that. Urg, bad sign.

I took a bite, and the outer coating is just as waxy and it looked. It tastes nearly flavorless, but lightly sweetened. Kind of like I took a bite out of my lip balm, and even though the doughnut itself was sealed inside this Chapstick prison, it's still really dry and crumbly.

These were awful. They look awful, they smell mediocre, and they taste like I'm eating play food from a kid's plastic kitchen. I ate one of these for the photos and that was more than enough.

My grandfather, who will admittedly eat anything, likes them, but as I said, He'll eat anything, so that's hardly a ringing endorsement. These were so flavorless, I'll likely never buy another Little Debbie doughnut again. Debbie need to stick to cookies, it's what she does best.
