Reeses Snack Mix - BJ's Wholesale

Reeses Snack Mix - BJ's Wholesale
When I travel, I always bring snacks to stash in my hotel room, because eating out is expensive! My boyfriend and I went out for diner last night and even though it was just pizza and a drink, it was pretty pricey. I just can't rationalize eating out and spending that much money ever time I feel a snack attack coming on, so for my trip to NY this weekend I packed the usual: granola bars, peanut butter crackers, fruity cereal bars, a few bottles of water, and this Reese's Snack Mix.

Not a "Trail Mix" a  "Snack Mix." Since peanuts are the only healthy inclusion in this mix of pretzels and candy, I'm pretty sure they couldn't market it as an energy food or meal supplement like other granola and trail mixes do, but it's Reese's, so I'm not complaining.

The packaging is a bright Reese's orange with the classic yellow logo with a grunge-style white "Snack Mix" slapped on there for good measure. I like the shape and size of the peg-bag packaging, because it's easy to hold in hand and munch on the go with minimal mess, but the "Snack Mix" text feels like an afterthought. It's not terrible, but it does feel a little lazy and not as cohesive as the imagery on the rest of the bag.

I opened the pouch and inside are little pretzel...balls?  This is a pretty new shape for me. I don't think I've ever seen such tiny pretzel nuggets! Along with the pretzels there's a few of those Reese's mini-cups, some Reese's Pieces, and a bunch of peanuts in this mix. Admittedly I'm not a big peanut fan, so I wasn't thrilled about all the roasted peanuts, but they are the only healthy thing in this mix, so I'll just have to deal with it.

Since I already know what each of these items tastes like individually, I jumped right in and poured some of this stuff into my mouth Snack Mix style to see how everything combined. The results? Pretty darn good!
Even though it has peanuts, the pretzels and mini Reese's cups cover them up a bit, with all their crunch and chocolate-y goodness, while the Pieces enhance the overall peanut butter flavoring and add a candy shell crunch every now and again. Before this I never would have thought to mix pretzels with my Reese's but it really an awesome combination! You get the added saltiness from the pretzels, plus some satisfying crunchiness, and then you finish with a sweet and creamy mixture of peanut butter and chocolate. Not bad at all!

This stuff isn't a trail mix, and it is NOT a health food item, but it is a really satisfying sweet and salty snack and it held up well during my travels. (Which included 2 train rides and the heat of NY city.) I liked this Reese's Snack Mix more than I thought I would, but I don't know if I would buy it again.
