Oreo must be stopped. I get it, they're "Milk's favorite cookie." (Debatable.) But things are just getting out of hand. Adding less than a dollar's worth of Oreo pieces to pretty much everything does not magically turn it into a premium product. It's a waste of money is what it is! Sprinkle one or maybe two cookie's worth on top of a doughnut, all of a sudden that plain doughnut is twice the price. Mix a cookie or two into cream cheese? BOOM! Fancy! I get it, but, I don't get it.
Look at this candy bar, it's a milk chocolate Milka bar with a white "creme" filling and a very minimal amount of cookie pieces mixed in. We're talking less than one ground up Oreo cookie's worth, and yet? People are hype. Am I missing something? Does this taste like a paid-off student loan?
The chocolate coating is smooth and creamy, but very sweet. Typical for Milka products, and on it's own it's great, but combine that with a sugary sweet white chocolate filling and it just feels a little too cloying and overwhelming. The little crunchy cookie inclusions add a much needed crunchy texture, and their semi-sweet cocoa flavoring counteracts the overwhelming sweetness of the rest of the bar, but there just aren't enough of them. So, is this yummy? Yeah. Would I buy it again? Probably not.
Oreos are food-blogging bread and butter. They release a wacky flavor and all of us run to find it or want to be the first ones to try it, but when it comes to just adding their classic cookie to random things? (Especially when it's such a minimal amount.) I'm not buying it.

I'm with you, I love Oreo cookies, but not everything needs Oreo flavoring. I tried one of these bars and personally thought it wasn't very good. The chocolate is like that cheap Easter chocolate that barely tastes like chocolate. If you want Oreos just buy an entire bag for $3.
ReplyDeletei think the vanilla filling has an odd 'yogurt' flavor;
ReplyDeletethe chocolate filled variety is delicious, however
I'm in agreement. I love Oreos, but these I don't get. Just leave Oreos alone and let them be Oreos.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind these, especially because they have them 10 for $1.00 at Grocery Discount Outlet lol BUT! I agree with you on principle since Oreos are everywhere. Baskin Robbins can't seem to go two months in a row without releasing a new flavor centered around Oreos and it's exceptionally lame.
