Sriracha Lay’s - Target : Cherry Hill, NJ

Sriracha Lay’s - Target : Cherry Hill, NJ
I’m sure most of you have seen (or heard) about Lay’s “Do Us A Flavor” competition. If not, here is the gist of it. Lay’s created a build your own flavor app on Facebook. Users made their own flavors which were compared and voted upon. (I actually participated and submitted General Tso’s Chicken as a flavor.) From all the entries submitted, the final three flavors were actually put into production to be tasted and voted on by America.
The three final flavors are:
  • Sriracha
  • Chicken and Waffles
  • Cheesy Garlic Bread
Certain stores are getting certain flavors, just like the limited edition Oreos have been doing the last few years, and it seems Target (with it’s red logo) has sriracha.
To be honest, this was the only flavor I was excited about. (Although I am a bit curious about Cheesy Garlic Bread)
All three of the flavors have similar bag designs. The overall background has a pattern of random foods and voting slogans, but with a different primary color. I like that the general design layout looks very clean and uncluttered.
Inside, the chips smell like hot sauce and vinegar, and the color looks similar to BBQ chips.
The first chip starts out similar to a BBQ sauce, sweet and tangy, but then you get a nice after taste of hot sauce, garlic, and vinegar. After a few chips, the heat starts to build up and this flavor really starts to shine.
I find that a decent amount of food that tries to be “hot” doesn’t taste that great. Companies become more obsessed with making things spicy-hot than making them spicy-delicious. These chips break that cycle.

Do these taste like actual sriracha? No, but I think they taste a lot very similar to honey-hot wing sauce.
I really enjoyed these a lot! If you’re looking for more information on the contest, check out this LINK. (I might try and get my hands on the other two flavors, but so far my vote is for sriracha.)
Like me on facebook to keep up with all my adventures!
