Reese's Spread - Walmart: Berlin, NJ

Reese's Spread - Walmart: Berlin, NJ
Are any of you scrambling for a last minute gift this season? Do they like Reese's cups? BUY THIS! Seriously. Buy this spread, slap a bow on it, and tie a fancy spoon to it using red and white striped twine or ribbon. BOOM! Best gift ever. I'm normally not the kind of person to gush over a particular product, but this...this is just gush-worthy.

Not convinced? Go ahead and read the rest of this review.

Those of you who follow foodie news and other food blogs have most likely seen this product before. It isn't really "new," it came out a few months ago, so it's been making the rounds on all the food blogs. So far, everyone has been falling in love with this delicious spread. I don't think I've seen a single negative review yet!

Back in the 90's, Reese's released their own peanut butter, everyone was so excited and expectations were high for that peanut butter to taste just as good as it's candy counterpart...but it didn't. It was a normal jar of typically smooth peanut butter, but with the "Reese's" color scheme and branding. It was a major let down, and I think they stopped producing it after a few years, but I'm not too sure. I mean, why pay more for a name brand when it tastes just the same as every other smooth peanut butter on the market?

For the last few years, cookie butters (like Biscoff) and chocolate spreads (like Nutella) have become extremely popular. I'm guessing Hershey's finally figured, you know what? Why don't we make some spreads that actually DO taste like our candy bars? I know it's so much easier to just toss our name on a bland generic product, but let's give this thing a try.

No matter how it finally came into existence, I am so glad it did.

This spread, tastes JUST like Reese's cups. I hardly ever say anything tastes exactly like it says it will, I'm a stickler for that, but this honestly and truly tastes like a smooth and creamy Reese's peanut butter cup. The spread looks as if it would taste very chocolate heavy, due to it's chocolate-y coloring, but this has some fantastic peanut butter flavoring, and it has the crumbly little peanut butter bits! It's just...wonderful. This is my absolutely favorite way to consume anything Reese's! I know I said I loved the Reese's Oreos, and I did, but this...this is just better. I don't have to touch anything with my hands at all! I can just grab a spoon and go to town! There's really no other way for me to describe this, it just tastes exactly like the little peanut butter cups.

Although the jar shows this spread being put on toast, or apple slices (Pft, really? Who would waste this on apple slices?), I think it is best enjoyed straight out of the jar with a spoon while marathoning something on Netflix.

On a more serious note, I could see this being used to make some amazing birthday cakes, or icing, or filling for cookie sandwiches and chocolate truffles, but I don't think it'll ever last long enough for me to do any of that. As I am writing this, I'm several spoons in and I don't even know if this spread will survive another week in my house. The only downside to this is that it's so easy to eat, there is no portion control. If you lack willpower, this stuff could be dangerous, but even then...it's so good. I won't judge you.

  1. Even though I never tried this, this would taste good on anything. Even off things that are not food, like a table. Or a plate. Or even the doorknob.

  2. Can't read enough of the label to tell if this is non-dairy- but one Halloween, I was craving Reese's peanut butter cups so badly that I almost went out at 3am to get some, even though they do have dairy (I'm allergic). Instead, I mixed some peanut butter, cocoa powder, sugar (powdered is best, but didn't bother blending down the granulated) and coconut oil together - I think in equal proportions, but not sure, I know I checked online for homemade versions of Reese's to get the proportions to try. Then I just ate it with a spoon. It worked! Satisfied the craving completely. I got through the rest of the season being able to pass by the allergenic peanut butter cup sales with no problem at all.
