Franken-Cup or Franken-Cup's Monster?

Reese's Franken-Cup - CVS
Historically, Reese's tends to play it safe seasonally, focusing more on shapes, like pumpkins and bats, instead of wacky seasonal flavors. At first that seems kind of lame, why not try something new? But, would I really want Reese's to make something like, pumpkin spiced peanut butter cups? Or something along the lines of Zombie Skittles? That's going to be a "no," from me, dawg.
So while this may seem boring at first, I appreciate it's practicality and how the subtle color change acts as an homage to a classic horror icon, Frankenstein's Monster, and his notoriously flat-head, but, does the colored confectionary bottom change the overall Reese's experience for the better? Or worse? We shall see...

Taste The Travel - Internationally Inspired m&m's

Internationally Inspired m&m's  - Walgreens $1.11 each
The most interesting thing about these new flavors is their lack of uniqueness. I'm getting flashbacks to the Chili Nut, Coffee Nut, and Honey Nut m&m's that were released back in ...2016?! Wow, it honestly feels like that was just last year, but (apparently) it's been a while.
Here we are again, in 2019, with a new trio of flavors to vote for, but are they really that "new?" Mexican Jalapeno is a call back to 2016's Chili Nut, We've had Coconut m&m's back in 2012, and Toffee? Okay, I'll admit, that one is pretty "new," but if it turns out that this is just caramel-flavored (which I suspect it is) we've already seen that before as well.
So, will anything here impress me?

Peanut Brrr-ittle m&m's - Target

Peanut Brrr-ittle m&m's - Target
While scooping up clearance Halloween deals at Target, I picked up something on-season! (It's been a while.)
Brittle is an odd flavor choice, and certainly not something that makes me think of winter. Thanks to the peanut-center it makes sense conceptually, but I'm a bit curious (and skeptical) about the execution. Will the chocolate taste like brittle? I doubt it, but I'm excited to see more peanut m&m's get the limited edition flavor treatment.
Let's find out!

Strawberry Nut m&m's - Walmart

Strawberry Nut m&m's - Walmart
Years ago, when I was a collegiate foodie-fangirl drooling over Cybele's candyblog, she posted about these limited edition Strawberried Peanut Butter m&m's which were released as a Transformers movie tie-in. What did PB&J flavored candy have to do with Transformers? I have no idea, but I wanted them and I couldn't find them. I missed out. They disappeared without me ever being able to buy a bag, and it's been a foodie sore-spot for me ever since.
It's pathetic (and neurotic) to admit this, but every now and again I do think about them. The limited edition m&m that got away. The one that echoed my favorite PB&J pairing of strawberry jam with peanut butter. I've read other (more fortunate) foodies reviews of them, and it seems they were just okay, nothing special, and certainly not delicious enough to make the masses rally together for it's re-release like other flavors have done.
Flash forward to today, when Mars releases a sorta-similar product, Strawberry Nut m&m's. They're not quite the same, but I guess this will have to do. I'm really hoping that these will live up to the hype I've given this flavor pairing in my head.

BEST. IMPULSE. BUY. EVER. - Nestle Crunch Mini Girl Scout Candy Bars

Nestle Crunch Mini Girl Scout Candy Bars - BJ's Wholesale Club ($5.00!!!)
Normally I'm a rational consumer. I buy the things I need with a few new items tossed in for the blog, which keeps my stomach and my wallet happy, but every once and a while there's a deal that's too good to pass up. I was walking through BJ's with all my clipped out coupons, because I don't buy anything from BJ's without a coupon, when I saw a sign. The little paper sign was only a foot off the floor and it said, "clipless coupon" and it had $10 crossed out, and $5.00 written underneath. Five freaking dollars for 44 mini-chocolate-bars? That's like, .12 cents a bar!
Girl Scout cookies and candy bars? Yes, please! It was a great deal, and it's been a really tough couple of weeks for me so, completely rationally, I bought three boxes. (One per trip of course over the next few days, in accordance to BJ's policy.) Now that I have 132 mini chocolate bars in my possession, fingers crossed that they taste as good as I think they will!

PB Crave Coco Bananas Peanut Butter - Aldi $4.99-UPDATED

PB Crave Coco Bananas Peanut Butter - Aldi $4.99
So there I was, strolling down Aldi's aisles looking for special buy goodies, and what catches my eye? A jar of peanut butter! But, this isn't just any peanut butter, it's chocolate, banana, and honey peanut butter!

It was a bit pricey for a jar of peanut butter, if memory serves one jar was $4.99, but it's organic, and I'm a sucker for all things banana, so into my cart it went. Let's hope that this lives up to my banana-loving expectations.

Jif Pumpkin Pie Spiced Whipped Peanut Butter - Target: Marlton, NJ

Jif Pumpkin Pie Spiced Whipped Peanut Butter - Target: Marlton, NJ
This was one of those seasonal products that no one really asked for, it just came into existence, and food bloggers like me decided to give it a try because, well, it's a pumpkin spiced peanut butter! It's new, and different, and people like me wonder, why would you want to combine these two flavors? Will it actually taste any good? I don't know about the rest of you, but I wasn't exactly thrilled to see this product, and I thought about skipping it entirely, but (like most seasonal products) it went on sale, and I couldn't resist.

Reese's Spread - Walmart: Berlin, NJ

Reese's Spread - Walmart: Berlin, NJ
Are any of you scrambling for a last minute gift this season? Do they like Reese's cups? BUY THIS! Seriously. Buy this spread, slap a bow on it, and tie a fancy spoon to it using red and white striped twine or ribbon. BOOM! Best gift ever. I'm normally not the kind of person to gush over a particular product, but this...this is just gush-worthy.

Not convinced? Go ahead and read the rest of this review.

Candyology 101 Epsidoe 2: The Peanut Buttering!

So November is actually National Peanut Butter month, and while I want to act cool and say that I totally posted yesterday's review knowing that, I was totally oblivious.

Thankfully Lauren and Cybele are on the ball, to celebrate National Peanut Butter month, we discuss peanut butter cups and other peanut butter-y goodies on this episode of Candyology 101! (We also talk about a few candies that will be coming out very soon, like cherry cola cordials!)
Please have a listen to the player above and let me know what you think. (I really think we did a lot better this time!)
