Blurred Limes - A Trio of Lime Themed Reviews

3 Lime Reviews

I freaking love lime, and I also love putting a dent in my foodie backlog, so today we have a triple dose of citrus. (No need to worry about scurvy!) Three lime products, one a returning classic, compared to two limited edition releases. Which is best and how do they rate on a scale of 1-10 in terms of lime-y-ness? We shall see!

M&M's, Trying to Score Some Brownie Points

Fudge Brownie m&m's

I'm not really sure what to expect here, I mean, fudge brownies are more of a textural experience than anything else, right? They taste like chocolate, ideally fudgey chocolate, but chocolate none-the-less. How are you going to take an already chocolate based candy and make that taste like a chocolate brownie? It's the texture, right? So let's see what's inside this thing!

Like most of the filled m&m's, these are a bit larger than normal and they're irregular in size and shape. I decided to give my first impression eating it normally, then savoring it, then trying the center on it's own (if I can manage it.)

Taste The Travel - Internationally Inspired m&m's

Internationally Inspired m&m's  - Walgreens $1.11 each
The most interesting thing about these new flavors is their lack of uniqueness. I'm getting flashbacks to the Chili Nut, Coffee Nut, and Honey Nut m&m's that were released back in ...2016?! Wow, it honestly feels like that was just last year, but (apparently) it's been a while.
Here we are again, in 2019, with a new trio of flavors to vote for, but are they really that "new?" Mexican Jalapeno is a call back to 2016's Chili Nut, We've had Coconut m&m's back in 2012, and Toffee? Okay, I'll admit, that one is pretty "new," but if it turns out that this is just caramel-flavored (which I suspect it is) we've already seen that before as well.
So, will anything here impress me?

Espresso vs. Mint: Crunchy M&M Showdown? (Not Really Though)

Crunchy Mint & Espresso m&m's - Walgreens
I've been out of the blogging game for a while...so I completely missed the chance to review these before the contest ended and the winner was announced.

If' you're like me, and completely out of the loop, m&m's ran a flavor contest with 3 variations of crunchy m&ms. The contenders were: Crunchy Mint, Crunchy Espresso, and Crunchy Raspberry. The winner would become a permanent flavor.
Since the contest ended (in August), and new packaging would be hitting the shelves, all three flavors were on clearance at our local Walgreens. I could have gotten all three, but I knew the raspberry ones were going to be a flop in our household, so I bought the two I knew we would enjoy. Would we like the same flavor as the one that won the contest? Let's hope so!

More Ice Cream Impostors? - Neapolitan m&m's

Neapolitan m&m's - Target
It feels good to be back.
Blah, blah, life is busy-blah. Let's eat some candy!
Thanks to this year's Peep and m&m releases, Neapolitan got it's moment in the sun. A classic mix of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, now in candy form, what could go wrong?
If you guys follow any of my fellow foodie friends, you likely know that these are (kind of) a re-release. Prior to their USA debut, Neapolitan m&m's were available in Australia, but their execution was a bit different than what we have here. Firstly, Australia got MUCH nicer packaging. Secondly, their release used "normal" sized m&m's, and each color was a different flavor. The American variety is quite different, starting with the packaging...

White Cheesecake m&m's - Walmart Exclusive

White Cheesecake m&m's - Walmart Exclusive $2.88
Ah, Green overly-sexualized m&m, we meet again. It feels like only yesterday I was staring at your blinged-out Christmas packaging (reviewed here), but it was actually a week ago. I think we need to have a talk about "boundaries."

Confession time:
I knew these were going to suck before I even bought them, but I got them anyway. Why? Well, two reasons: 1- My b/f's sister wanted these, and I just so happened to be at Walmart so I grabbed them for her, and 2- it's trending food-blog-fodder.

I've been trying random new food stuffs for a few years now, and even though I'm not as seasoned as my more knowledgeable foodie friends, like CandyBlog, JunkFoodGuy or ImpulsiveBuy, I still know a dud when I see one. Usually when anything shelf stable tries to taste like cheesecake, you know you're in for a bad time. But, who knows, maybe I am being cynical and I'll be proven wrong. There's only one way to find out...

Meiji Marble Chocolate - Asian Food Market

Meiji Marble Chocolate - Asian Food Market
Meiji Marble, in a box? If you're unfamiliar with Meiji products, their candies are often sold in long skinny cardboard tubes with a matching cardboard cap. The only time I've ever seen Meiji Marble in a box, and not their signature tube, is when it's part of a mini-sampler, or a special flavor mix, but this looks pretty normal to me. I can't read much of the packaging, but from what I can see...this looks like normal marble chocolate. I guess we'll open it up and find out.

Milk Chocolate Strawberry m&m's - Walmart (exclusive)

Milk Chocolate Strawberry m&m's - Walmart (exclusive)
That's right, there's not one, but TWO exclusive strawberry-themed m&m's on the shelves. One for Target and this one for Walmart. Unlike the Target one, which used white chocolate, this one uses a milk chocolate base, and I'm not too sure how I feel about that. Normally I'm against it, because chocolate tends to overpower any of the other flavors that are mixed in, but years ago there were these Strawberried Peanut butter m&m's that were released as a promotional product for the Transformers movie (which made absolutely no sense), and I thought they were really cool but I never found them. I'm kind of hoping that this flavor will give me a little bit of the strawberry flavored snacking satisfaction that I missed out on.
