Candyology101 Episode 41: Mango Madness!


 
There's no denying Mango's popularity, especially in the summer. As a former mango hater I still don't get the hype, but I've learned to enjoy and accept it as a part of the usual summer/tropical flavor mix.

On Candyology 101 the three of us....wait, three? YUP! Lauren, aka CandyHunting, is back recording with Cybele and I again!

It's a fruit flavored chewy taffy square that has always lived in Starburst's shadow. On today's Candyology 101 Cybele and I talk about Now and Laters! This tangy taffy may be the enemy of fillings and dental work, but it something I grew up enjoying with my friends and I feel like it's never had it's moment in the sun. There's not much history for this product, but there is something very very wrong with their wiki page.... What am I talking about? Candyology 101 Episode 34 - Mike & Ike


Which is your favorite?

On today's episode of Candyology 101 we take a look at Mike and Ikes. This jelly-bean-like confection comes is a ton of different flavor varieties and it's really affordable, but it's never gotten the same recognition as other fruity candies like Skittles or Starburst.

We take a brief look at this tubular candy to discuss how it's made, how long it's been around, and we share our favorite mixes and individual flavors. Plus! Cybele tries to quiz me to see if I can pick out the legit Mike and Ike mixes in a sea of fakes. (How did I do? Tune in to find out!) Candyology 101 Episode 33: Snickers vs. Milky Way, who's the better bar?


Which is your favorite?

On today's episode of Candyology 101 we decided to have a little debate, inspired by the upcoming election here in America.

I am a Milky Way fanatic. It's my favorite American candy bar and I love it to pieces. (Especially when it's frozen.) Cybele prefers Snickers, which is pretty much a Milky Way with peanuts tossed into the mix, and thinks they are the superior candy bar. I disagree. Peanuts ruin it! Which candy bar will come out on top? Will I win Cybele over to the peanut-free side? Tune in to find out, and be sure to share your preferred candy bar below!

Candyology 101 Episode 31: Pucker up for some Sour Candy!


We've talked about a ton of the sweet stuff, so today we're focusing on Sour!

It's the sour things in life that make us appreciate the sweet! On today's episode of Candyology 101 we tackle the goodies that make our mouth water and our eyes tear. Everything from the mild Lemonhead to the profuse puckering power of Warheads. To start, I give you a little glimpse of the science behind what makes these sweets so sour, and we talk about the validity of the warning labels on treats like these. Then things get a little less science-y as Cybele and I discuss our favorite go-to sour candies. Plus, we have the fan favorite Treat or Trick section to finish things off and let you know what new goodies are headed our way. It would be "berry" awesome if you'd be our valentine!

Due to scheduling conflicts, our sour episode was put on hold, so today's Candyology 101 episode is dedicated to sweets for sweethearts! Don't have a sweetheart? No problem! (That means you don't have to share your candy! ) We all deserve a little treat, and today Cybele and I look at the surprising strawberry trend that infiltrated our seasonal candy aisle. Candyology 101: Episode 28 - The best (and worst) of 2015


It's been a whole YEAR of Candyology 101 podcasts!

Cybele and I have been talking about candy for over a year! (That's a lot of dental bills.) We took a look at EVERYTHING we each reviewed in 2015, which was a LOT of candy, and now we're ready to give all of you a list of our biggest hits, and our most heartbreaking disappointments. Tune in to find out which candies made it to the top, and which ended up in the bargain bin.

Candyology 101 Episode 27: Peppermint & Holiday Candy

Wait, that's not cheer....it's peppermint! I may be a total scrooge when it comes to the winter season, but even I can admit that the winter holidays have some pretty great candy. On today's episode of Candyology 101, Cybele and I go over all the new candies that came out this season, discuss which favorites returned this winter, and compare last year's flavor trends to this year's

Episode 26: Honey & Maple (Let's get sticky!)


Are you ready to get sticky? (Because that's how you get ants.) 

Nothing is better on a cold, wet, miserable day then some soothing honey or maple flavored sweets. On today's episode of Candyology 101, Cybele and I discuss the official flavor trend of 2015, HONEY! The year is almost out, so Cybele and I are taking a look back and discussing some of the new honey products that have come our way, some of the old fashioned ones we grew up with, and we also tackle the idea of honey being a flavor we often relate to medicine, like throat drops.

Then, to finish things off, we talk about another sticky sweet syrup-y treat, maple candy! Maple is a flavor we often relate to fall weather, but it seems to fall (ha!) by the wayside due to the massive onslaught of Pumpkin Spiced goodies we've been getting each year. Grab some maple pancake flavored jelly beans and some honey caramels and tune in!

Candyology 101 Episode 25: HALLOWEEN (Plus, our first Anniversary!)


Candyology 101 is 1 year old!

 Cybele, Lauren, Marvo and I started this podcast one year ago with Halloween candy, so it's only fitting that we celebrate our first year by discussing more spooky treats!  Listen to find out what goodies we're handing out, what we're hoping to pick up from the Halloween clearance shelves, and (as always) find out what new products are hitting the shelves in our Treat or Trick section.

A Fall/Halloween classic, Candy Corn! 

Over the last 2-3 years we've seen a HUGE increase in the flavor variety of candy corn, and we've even seen it try to invade the other holidays. On today's Candyology 101, Cybele gives you the scoop on how candy corn is made, we discuss what flavor it's really supposed to be, and share our favorite and least favorite flavors. We also talk about what flavors we'd love to see in the future, candy corn flavored products, and of course, our Trick or Treat section shows you what new products are headed our way.
