Candyology 101 Episode 35 - Whatchamacallit (and review!)

Whatchamacallit - Walmart
On today's Candyology 101 we're munching on the Whatchamacallit bar, A Hershey's bar that never quite took off. It has a loyal following, and some fun marketing, but I don't think I've ever had one...until now! Tune in to learn more about this under the radar bar, and then check out my first impression review below!
Don't forget to check out my review under the cut!
We already discussed the packaging, branding, and layout for this wrapper on the show, so tune in if you want to hear my thoughts on that. I'm going to skip all that and get right into the review. (Which is the more fun part of food blogging anyway.)

Unwrapped, the bar smells like normal Hershey's milk chocolate and it looks like your typical candy bar. It doesn't have a fancy textured top like a Milky Way or a Snickers, it's perfectly smooth, kind of like a Charleston Chew. (Which is one of my guilty pleasure candy bars.)

I took a bite, and immediately fell in love. The chocolate coating is okay, it's the same chocolate quality as other Hershey's products so it's sweet and enjoyable, but kind of the lower end as far as quality, but the crispy rice bits are delightful! A few months ago I bought a Nestle Crunch Bar, because I was craving a crispy chocolate bar, and it was completely disappointing. I remembered it being much crispier when I was a kid. This Whatchamacallit Bar has all the crispy crunchy goodness I was craving, plus an awesome peanut butter flavored coating and caramel topping to keep it all together.
Before recording this episode I had seen this bar around and never given it a shot, but I'm so happy I got this kick in the pants to do it! It's really satisfying and there's nothing else on the market quite like it. If you like Krackle bars, 100 Grand, and Reeses cups, this combines all three into one awesome candy bar and you should totally give it a chance the next time you're craving something sweet.
