Pumpkin Spice Pizzelles - Aldi : Medford, NJ
I am collecting all of my pumpkin posts from last year
and re-posting them here on Blogger to make a comprehensive collection.
Here is the original Tumblr post.
This was something that I have never thought to add pumpkin
pie spices to. Pizzelles! This Italian treat has been a staple in my
home for generations. Now that I have seen this, I’ll be making a few
batches of my own later this year.
The plastic packaging is very thin, which is good for the
environment, but really tricky to open. Is snaps and creaks VERY loudly
when I open it, which I don’t like at all. What I do like is that the
pizzelles are packaging in little groupings, so I can open a pack for
now and not have stale pizzelles for later.
The cookies smell like ginger snaps, spicy and sweet. You
can detect a hint of pumpkin in it, but it could easily be mistaken for a
spice cookie.
The flavor is very mild, like most pizzelles. This type of
cookies is VERY thin, so the flavor is typically light. There are
vanilla, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg notes.
These were nice, but like any Italian girl, I think I can make better.
On a pumpkin-y scale of 1-5 (5 being extremely pumpkin-y) I would rate this a 2
*A package was removed from the container and eaten before taking
this photo. There were originally 4 packets of pizzelle cookies.
