Quickie Run-Down - 3 Different Drinks/Treats

A quick rundown of some items I've had recently.

  • Wendy's Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty
  • Starbucks Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte
  • Starbucks Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai

Wendy's is my favorite of the major fast food chains. I think it tastes the best and you get the best value for your money, so even though I rarely get fast food, when I do, it's Wendy's. In case you missed it, they have Halloween themed toys in their kids meals right now, and they're pretty stinking cute. I am not exactly out to collect them all, BUT I have gotten 3/6 so far. On my most recent trip I saw the Krabby Patty promotion, and while the meal itself didn't appeal to me, the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty did.

So I got the smallest size.

The flavor is described as pineapple mango, and the promo images showed a pale peach-colored frosty, so I was thinking this would be blended together, but when it arrived it looks like a vanilla frosty with orange colored syrup on the top and bottom. I guess they don't blend it together for you? As is, without stirring, it's a bit tricky to eat, the liquid wants to escape out the sides of the cup. So I stirred it as best I could. It tastes sweet and pretty mango-forward. Which is funny. The flavor is described as pineapple and mango, but the the name only containing "pineapple" I thought this would be kind of dole-whip-like. It's not. It's sweet, fruity, tropical, and kind of mild. It's good, I'd get it again, but it's definitely more mango than it is pineapple. If you expect that going in I think you'll enjoy it a lot more. From what I have seen other foodies say, it's probably the best part of the collab meal too. 7/10

When it comes to Starbucks, I am not a fan. I'll buy the odd flavor offering here and there, but I think it's overpriced and low quality. However, there is a GoPuff promotion for Starbucks in Philadelphia, where I work, and we get free drinks for the office. We've done it a few times, so here's what I thought.

Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte - It sounded great, I like all the flavors involved, but when it arrived the best way to describe it's flavor is "burnt." I was so shocked by the lack of flavoring and intrusive burnt taste that I even had my coworker try it to confirm that the drink was bad and that there wasn't something wrong with me. She confirmed that it tasted like burnt marshmallows, without the marshmallow. If you only ate the blackened ashy outside parts, that is what this tasted like. It was awful. The best thing I can say about this, other than it looked and smelled lovely, was that it wasn't cloyingly sweet like the other Starbucks drink I'm about to discuss. 0/10, I actually dumped this one down the drain, and I NEVER do that.

Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai
- I always get drinks as-is, to get the full experience, so I got this without any modifications. First sip was a sugary punch to the face. This was very sugary, even for Starbucks. Thankfully it's overt sweetness is my only complaint about this one. It was spiced, had a nice pumpkin pie flavoring, and gave me cozy fall vibes, even though it was iced. I did enjoy this, and it inspired me to add pumpkin to my own chai concentrate this fall, but if I ever did get it again I'd have to half the sweetness, at least. More chai, less sugar. 7/10

Oh, and if you're keeping up with what I am watching for Halloween, tonight I am going to actually re-watch It's What's Inside (Netflix). I -really- enjoyed it and want to give it another go. Netflix, it's my least used of the streaming services, I was about to cancel it, but this made me reconsider. For now.
