Go Sports! - Limited Time Nerd Gummy Cluster Flavors

Unlike Reese's and Skittles, Nerds knows what they're doing. Their new products, like Nerds Rope and Gummy Clusters, have been bangers.

For a while we only had Rainbow, followed by Berry, with some seasonal offerings here and there, but the seasonal stuff used their preexisting flavors, going for a color-theme, not a specialty seasonal flavor.

Their success seems to stem from having such a wide array of flavors already in production. We already know all their flavors, from their iconic Rainbow boxes, so they don't have to invent anything new. Just choose a different combination of their crunchy candy flavors, add a chewy gummy core, and call it a day.

I've always liked Nerds Gummy Clusters, but I preferred the OG 2-flavor aquarium-gravel I grew up with because it allowed me to eat one flavor at a time OR combine them if I wanted to. With Clusters being combined already, my OCD snacking ways are thrown for a loop.

But when I saw that my OG box combo, Grape x Strawberry, was coming out as a limited edition cluster flavor, I had to get it. The display they were in had a Berry Punch version as well, and like the Reese's Cups, I figured, why not?

Last time I went least to most excited so I'll switch that up here.

First up, my OG Nerds combo, Grape x Strawberry. Visually I get why Rainbow is more appealing to the masses. These aren't looking cute. Popping a few into my mouth, no real surprise here, it tastes like the sweet cotton candy-like strawberry, mixed with the slightly ashy purple-grape of my childhood, all with a bouncy sweet gummy center. It's delicious and very nostalgic for me. 10/10. My Millennial tastebuds prefer this to the Rainbow version, but it's all about what you grew up with. To me, this is THE Nerds flavor combination.

Tough act to follow, but next up is Berry Punch Rush.

Visually it looks like this is the white punch flavor, red-cherry, and blue punch. It tastes pretty generic and punchy. It's sweet, and I like it, but I don't love this combination in particular. A little too generic fruit punch. 6/10

Are all the gummy centers for all of the Nerds products the same? I allowed all the outer candy to dissolve and compared the center gummies and I feel pretty safe saying they're exactly the same.

I definitely will buy the Grape x Strawberry pack again, and hope to see it come back soon, but Berry Punch Rush is a one-time buy for me. I will say, I'd love to see a Watermelon x Cherry combo. The current winter holiday option is close, but it has the white punch-flavor in the mix and as I realized here, I'm not a fan.

For me, this flavor duo is the original. It's classic, iconic, and delicious. I understand why Rainbow has more of an appeal, especially for the younger candy consumers, but this
