Pocky: Salted Caramel vs Blond Chocolat

Blond Chocolat Pocky
I bought this a LONG time ago, and I am 100% sure it's "expired," but I'm going to eat it anyway. I like to live dangerously.

I feel like normal Pocky packaging is playful, themed, and colorful, but this? This is a major dud. There are no fun illustrations, no bright colors, and no foiled accents. It's just a pale yellow and black box with some food imagery. That's it. I normally hoarde cute Pocky boxes, but this one definitely isn't making the cut.
So, what is "Blond Chocolat?" Apparently, it's caramelized white chocolate, but that name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue so they went with the more elegant French phrasing. Also, there is no mention of salt anywhere, but judging by the images, these look like they're salted. This easily could have been salted caramel Pocky, but I guess that wasn't fancy enough?

Taking a bite, I can see why they called this "blond chocolat" and not straight up caramel. The flavoring is very sweet and milky, like white chocolate, with a caramel flavoring that reminds me of flavored syrup used in coffee shops. It's close to tasting dangerously fake, or overly sweet, but the really fine salt granules balance things out and add a bit of texture which I really appreciated.
Do they sell caramel flavored candy melts? I'm pretty sure they do, and if so, I bet they would taste just like this. With salt, of course. It's not a bad flavor, and I can't remember ever having a caramel Pocky before, so there's that, but it's not great shakes. The caramel flavoring teeters of fake-ness, which I'm not that into, and although I love the tiny bits of salt, they don't have enough of a punch to completely overcome that hurdle.
It's edible, and enjoyable for what it is, and I'm glad I gave it a shot, but I wouldn't repurchase it or really recommend it to anyone. Unless you have some kind of Pocky-based bucket list where you must try every single flavor, this is one you should definitely skip.
