Edible 90's Nostalgia - Lisa Frank Cookies

I would love to label myself as an 80's baby, but I arrived too late into the decade. Like it or not, I'm a 90's kid. (But I'm not a normal 90's kid, I'm a cool 90's kid.)

One of my 90's-kid hobbies was collecting stickers in an album, counting them, and never sticking them on anything. Ever. Partially because my parents wouldn't let me, and partially because I didn't want to "waste" a sticker. It's a weird hang-up I still wrestle with. It took me until I was 30 to place a sticker my PC tower, and not feel like I had just ruined it forever. But, thanks to my bizarre sticker hang-ups, I still have an album full of stickers from my childhood, and some of the best ones are Lisa Frank.

Holographic hip-hop-bears, strawberry-scented white Maltese dogs, and ballerina bunnies. Lisa Frank stickers were some of the best, and some of the weirdest. It seems like they quietly faded into obscurity, but now that former children are adults, with money, and desperate for any small bit of happiness we can grasp...Lisa Frank has made a resurgence. It's mainly rainbow-unicorn-based, which wasn't really my thing, but I still had to buy these.

Let's see how they taste and take the quiz to find out my "unicorn name!"

Blue are the feelings that live inside me - Pepsi Blue

Pepsi Blue - 7-Eleven

I wanted to introduce this as a "taste from my childhood" but I was in high school. So it's more accurate to say it's a taste from frizzy-haired-awkward-teens.
I remember getting this from gas stations from time to time, so I was excited for it's return. Just looking at it brings back every lyric to Eiffel 65's, Blue (Da Be Dee.) I had their CD back in the day and used to stay up watching MTV2 on the weekends so I could see their weird music video with CG aliens (along with other animated videos like Daft Punk and Gorillaz.)

Without further ado, let's drink some Windex Da Ba Dee Da Ba Di!

Nostalgia is Weird, Ring Pops are Weirder

Ring Pop Freeze - Dollar Tree
I can still recite the late 90's Ring Pop jingle by heart. (And I'm sure I'm not the only one.)
"It's a lollipop without a stick, a ring of favor you can lick! In Wacky and Sour flavors too. Ooh, Ring Pop!" Tune into my brain on any given day and you'll likely hear the Crossfire jingle playing on loop with the Dum-Dums commercial popping in now and again for good measure.
As vividly as I remember these commercials and their jingles, they actually played a very small part in my childhood. I mean, I never even played Crossfire, and I had maybe one hand's worth of Ring Pops as a kid. Still, whenever I see these things dredged up on a Buzzfeed "90's kids remember" list I feel this overwhelming flood of unearned nostalgia.
All that build up has lead us to this point. I, a 32-year old lady, with my own money, mortgage, and responsibilities, saw a weird flavor of Ring Pops at Dollar Tree and I bought them for myself.

Now & Later Quickie Review

Now & Later Quickie Review

A while ago, Cybele and I recorded a Now & Later themed episode of Candyology 101. To prepare for the recording, I went out and grabbed a few flavors to photograph and munch on, and they've been sitting on my desk ever since. The photos are all finished and edited, so I figured I might as well finish off the bag and type up a formal review!

French Toast Crunch - Target: Marlton, NJ (Throw Back Thursday?)

French Toast Crunch - Target: Marlton, NJ
It's nostalgia time! I was a 90's baby (born late 80's, but who has memories from before they were 3?), and to be honest, I don't get all the hype. I'm no where near as nostalgic about the time period as my peers. I mean, we're getting a Full House sequel, Boy Meets World has turned into Girl Meets World, and there are "retro" 90's T-shirts being sold at the mall. I am not on board with all the 90's hype, but I will say, I do love me some 90's food.
