Chip Party 2 - Electric Boogaloo

Chip Party 2 Electric Boogaloo
 - Aldi

More chips from Aldi! Admittedly they had even more flavors at the store last week. They had these two Mexican-themed flavors, and two "Brunch" kind of flavors which were Moscow Mule and Bloody Mary. Now Bloody Mary could work, but Moscow Mule? In Chip-form? They weren't really my taste, so I passed them up, but there two were way more my speed.

Better Late Than Never? Seasonal Salsas from Aldi

Seasonal Salsas - Aldi
I posted these on Instagram and they got a moderate amount of attention, so I picked all three up to review...and then didn't review anything for, like, a month. (Or two.) What can I say, I sucked at blogging in 2017. I debated on saving these for a #tbt post, but they're still available at my local Aldi, so I might as well share my thought in case any of you have been wanting to check these out before they disappear.

Wavy Mango Salsa Chips (Lay's Do Us A Flavor) - Wawa

Wavy Mango Salsa Chips (Lay's Do Us A Flavor) - Wawa
I think most of you have already seen my first impressions video, but if not, I'll be dissecting each of the four Lay's Do Us a Flavor finalists in blog-post-form.

I know that this news is a little bit old, and that most of the flavors have been discussed on other food blogs, but I'd still like to share my personal opinion on these new flavors. To kick things off, the chips I was least excited for, Manga Salsa.

Lay's Do Us a Flavor Finalists: First Impressions

I'll be posting a detailed written review later this weekend, but for now, you can see my initial reactions to these new flavors. (And watch me make faces and feed chips to my dog.)

Pumpkin Harvest Salsa - Target - Riverside, NJ

Pumpkin Harvest Salsa
- Target - Riverside, NJ
Sorry I missed yesterday's review. Student teaching is kicking my butt, but I am giving lectures on various artists the rest of this week! (Check out part of a lesson here.) I'm excited, but having to write lesson plans in my college's format, preparing presentations, and getting observed is a lot of work. Updates might get a little wonky for the rest of this week, but I'll keep up as best as I can.

Back to the food!

Last year Aldi had THIS Harvest Salsa, and it was amazingly pumpkin-y. I loved it so much that I bought another jar this year! Although it tastes great, my only complaint is that the Aldi's salsas are very mild. I always have to add extra seasoning or peppers to spice it up, so when Target released it's own seasonal salsa with the promise of a pepper-y kick, I had to see if it could satisfy my spicy needs.
Visually there is no contest between the two jars. The no-frills Aldi brand looks the best, hands down. Archer Farms likes to stick to a consistent design and all of their products look the same, which is not a bad thing, but the brand's identity doesn't really work for this salsa. Aldi's Selected label is a lot more sophisticated and festive, so I like leaving the jar out at parties because it looks fancy. The Target jar? Not so much.

Spiced Pumpkin Fall Harvest Salsa - Pumpkin 2012 Haul

Spiced Pumpkin Fall Harvest Salsa - Aldi : Medford, NJ

I am collecting all of my pumpkin posts from last year and re-posting them here on Blogger to make a comprehensive collection. Here is
the original Tumblr post.

Finally! Something savory with REAL pumpkin in it. Pumpkin salsa is something I had never had before, but I was very eager to try it.
