The 13 Posts of Halloween - Day 13, Ghost Pepper Whopper

Boo!
After copious amounts of overtime at my day job, getting sick, getting better, and turning another year older, I'm back! Ready to make up for lost time with a new post every day from now until Halloween! (AND a special live stream with a friend of mine on her channel closer to the holiday! I'll keep you posted.)

Let's start with a spicy, spooky, Halloween Burger from Burger King!

I don't usually eat at Burger King, but when I do, it's because they have a Halloween themed burger.

Gettin' Lucky (Charms) Milkshake - Quickie Review

Lucky Charms Shake -  Burger King (Gift)
My boyfriend's daughter treated the entire household to milkshakes. (Which was super awesome.) So I took this opportunity to try one of the cereal milkshakes that were all the rage a few months ago. Better late than never, right?
Let me start off by saying I wanted the smallest milkshake size available, and apparently, this is it. It's about the size of a medium soda, which is more milkshake than my stomach had bargained for. (After eating pizza and wings that is.) The vanilla base has a blue-ish tinge to it, and there are tiny beige pieces of cereal and colorful mashed up marshmallow bits scattered on the surface, but due to the whip cream topping, they're only visible on the sides of the lid.
According to the Burger King website, this isn't just a vanilla milkshake with cereal mixed into it. There's a "sweet marshmallow cereal flavored syrup," that brings this to a whole new level. I took a sip, and if it's there, I can barely notice it. The base for the milkshake is a sweet and creamy vanilla, which is pleasant, but nothing special. I enjoy it as much as I would enjoy any other fast food vanilla shake, what I didn't expect, was how much I would love the mixed in cereal bits.
As you sip, chunks of soggy cereal slide up your straw giving this milkshake a bubble-tea like experience. Sip, chew. Sip, chew. The cereal bits didn't offer much in the way of flavor, they tasted like soggy Lucky Charms, but I loved the added texture. The marshmallow bits, through pretty, didn't add much in the way of texture or flavoring, but the cereal? It was awesome!
I didn't think I would be able to finish this milkshake (due to my pizza and wing binge-fest) but I actually did! Seeking out bits of cereal kept things interesting, and I found it to be a very pleasant milkshake experience.
I still think the marshmallow cereal flavored syrup is a glorified vanilla syrup of some kind, but the novelty of this milkshake ended up being far more enjoyable than I expected. If you're a fan of bubble tea, I highly recommend adding some Lucky Charms cereal to your next milkshake. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

HA1LOWEEN Burger (Halloween A-1 Burger) - Burger King

HA1loween Burger (Halloween A-1 Burger) - Burger King
America finally gets some black-themed burger buns! I'm so happy! Like all the other food bloggers out there, I'm super jealous of all of the limited edition burgers available in Japan. They've had red tomato powder burger buns, pink sakura buns, and even all black squid ink buns with black cheese and a black sauce. Our American version isn't that intense, but hey, it's a start!
The HA1LOWEEN burger has black buns, but they aren't squid ink-based like the ones sold in Japan. Instead, these are "infused with A1 steak sauce," which is a popular condiment here in the states, but it actually originated in the UK. The sauce alone doesn't create the intense black colored buns. As far as I can tell, this bun is the result of massive amounts of food coloring, but we'll talk a bit more about that later...totally unrelated, but there will be some...trigger warning-type stuff towards the end of this review. I'll flag it, but be warned: black burger buns come with some...unique side effects.

Pumpkin Spice Oreo Shake - Burger King

Pumpkin Spice Oreo Shake - Burger King
I'm back from Baltimore! After a very long drive back to Jersey (caused by the  #@$%! Ravens game), I decided to treat myself for not succumbing to road rage by stopping at Burger King. At first I was just going to buy the new Halloween burger (with the black A-1 infused buns), but they also had this new milkshake...so I grabbed both! (After that drive, I deserved it. Treat yo' self!)

Classic chocolate Oreo bits and pumpkin spice? I don't know about this one. Let's see if this shake is tasty, or just a gimmick. (The Halloween burger review will be up next!)
