It's Cereal AND It's Pink for Valentine's Day - Double Theme'd!

Wrapping up this week's unplanned cereal theme, I have Strawberry Milkshake Frosted Flakes.

I went out for drinks with friends from college, but I don't drink, or smoke. Everyone at the table asked, "what DO you do?" I go on post-work junk-food binges, and watch a LOT of movies. (As you can tell, I'm very cool and very social.) Crap-food and movies are my thing, and my community of junk food loving bloggers let me know I'm not alone in this, but I guess non-internet people find it strange.

Anyway, this was bought during one of those binges I mentioned. I walk the aisles and put anything interesting into my cart, and this made the cut. I wasn't especially excited to try it, and I definitely didn't meant to commit to the family sized box, but at the very least, it's pink and Valentine's Day-looking. Another happy on-theme accident!

Are these possibly better than the original? Let's find out.

Gettin' Lucky (Charms) Milkshake - Quickie Review

Lucky Charms Shake -  Burger King (Gift)
My boyfriend's daughter treated the entire household to milkshakes. (Which was super awesome.) So I took this opportunity to try one of the cereal milkshakes that were all the rage a few months ago. Better late than never, right?
Let me start off by saying I wanted the smallest milkshake size available, and apparently, this is it. It's about the size of a medium soda, which is more milkshake than my stomach had bargained for. (After eating pizza and wings that is.) The vanilla base has a blue-ish tinge to it, and there are tiny beige pieces of cereal and colorful mashed up marshmallow bits scattered on the surface, but due to the whip cream topping, they're only visible on the sides of the lid.
According to the Burger King website, this isn't just a vanilla milkshake with cereal mixed into it. There's a "sweet marshmallow cereal flavored syrup," that brings this to a whole new level. I took a sip, and if it's there, I can barely notice it. The base for the milkshake is a sweet and creamy vanilla, which is pleasant, but nothing special. I enjoy it as much as I would enjoy any other fast food vanilla shake, what I didn't expect, was how much I would love the mixed in cereal bits.
As you sip, chunks of soggy cereal slide up your straw giving this milkshake a bubble-tea like experience. Sip, chew. Sip, chew. The cereal bits didn't offer much in the way of flavor, they tasted like soggy Lucky Charms, but I loved the added texture. The marshmallow bits, through pretty, didn't add much in the way of texture or flavoring, but the cereal? It was awesome!
I didn't think I would be able to finish this milkshake (due to my pizza and wing binge-fest) but I actually did! Seeking out bits of cereal kept things interesting, and I found it to be a very pleasant milkshake experience.
I still think the marshmallow cereal flavored syrup is a glorified vanilla syrup of some kind, but the novelty of this milkshake ended up being far more enjoyable than I expected. If you're a fan of bubble tea, I highly recommend adding some Lucky Charms cereal to your next milkshake. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

Cotton Candy (Unicorn) Milkshakes!

Frozen Bean Cotton Candy Frozen Drink Mix - Walmart .99 cents
The days are shorter, the temperature is dropping, and Pumpkin-pocalypse 2017 has invaded the grocery store shelves. If there was ever a time for a (denial-laced) summery unicorn-themed cotton candy milkshake, it's now.
Today's post is part two of my Frozen Bean drink mix trilogy. We started with plain ol' Cookies n' Cream and now we've moved on to fabulous cotton candy.
Grab your cozy denial-blankets, ignore all adult responsibilities, and marvel at my decorative paper unicorn straw, as we sail off into a sugar-induced unicorn hallucination.

Shake, shake, shake, shake-a, shake it! - Cookies & Cream

Frozen Bean Cookies & Cream Milkshake Mix - Walmart, $1.25
Linking songs to my reviews has been a lot of fun, but this one is a little cringe-worthy. A friend of mine worked at Journeys, a shoe store (when we were teenagers) and they'd get trendy music DVDs to play in the store each month. This smash hit (she said, sarcastically), by Metro Station (aka Miley Cyrus' brother's band), in an earworm I haven't been able to escape. (It's a guilty pleasure song. Don't judge me!)

Speaking of guilty pleasures, why don't we do a quickie review of one of these Frozen Bean milkshake/drink mixes? I'm fairly certain drinking all three in one day is a bad idea, so I'll knock these out one at a time. First up, the safest bet, Cookies & Cream.

Ghostbustin' Burger & Stay Puft Slime Shake - Wayback Burger

Ghostbustin' Burger & Stay Puft Slime Shake - Wayback Burger
I'm finally getting around to typing up this long overdue review! Nearly 2 months ago Dinosaur Dracula posted his review of the Ghostbusters themed menu offered at Wayback Burgers. Being a huge nerd of all things Halloween-ie, and a fan of the movies, I ran right out and placed an order.

Slim Jim Jerky Protein Milkshake - Wayback Burger

Slim Jim Jerky Protein Milkshake - Wayback Burger
Welp...I did it. I ordered a Slim Jim milkshake. Which is a thing that actually exists. When I placed the order at the register, the two (really nice) employees tried to talk me out of it, which is a pretty big red flag, but I really wanted to get something fun to post on the blog, so I ignored their warnings. May the foodie gods have mercy upon my stomach.

Crème Brûlée Milkshake - Arby's

Crème Brûlée Milkshake - Arby's

I don't think I've ever eaten anything from Arby's before. My only childhood memory involving Arby's is that one Lord of the Flies-like episode of The Simpson's where the children are stranded on an island and one of the twin girls says, "I'm so hungry, I could eat at Arby's!" (The rest of the children audibly gasp and murmur that she really must be hungry. ) That little gag really stuck with me, my sister and I quote it all the time when we're hungry, so maybe that joke actually caused me avoid this fast food chain as an adult. Then again, I'm also not a huge fan of red meat, and with roast beef being their main product, it's no wonder I haven't stopped in for a bite. (Get it? Arby's. R. B. Roast Beef. The meaning behind their name was definitely lost on me as a child.) On my drive to and from work I pass a LOT of tempting fast food restaurants, and while I'm normally very good about ignoring them and going straight home to eat, Arby's sign for a crème brûlée milkshake was too tempting to pass up.
