What Rhymes with Rhubarb?

Cawston Press Rhubarb  - Aldi

Rhubarb is not something I grew up eating. In fact, I didn't even know it existed until one day when my uncle's neighbor brought over a strawberry and rhubarb pie that I absolutely fell in love with. It looks like pink celery, but tastes tangy and sour. It blew my tiny little mind.

I have a hard time finding rhubarb and rhubarb-flavored-things, so when I do spot it it's an automatic "in-the-cart" item.

All Caps Worthy?

Canada Dry BOLD Ginger Ale  - Shop Rite

I bought this a while ago, so it's not all that "NEW" anymore, but still, I was excited to see just how bold this ginger ale could be.

Something about the label design puts me at unease. It looks aged, but in a bad way. It isn't as if they were attempting a vintage-vibe, it's more like this looks like a 2-Liter of soda your grandma had hoarded away in the basement for too long and finally decided it's time to bring it up for a family party. Does that make sense to anyone else? That's what the color choices and labeling says to me, basement-grandma-soda, and while that isn't a terrible thing, it certainly isn't all that great either.

Safe to say, I definitely didn't buy this for the packaging or the aesthetics. I bought this because, as an adult, I have a newfound appreciation for bold, spicy, ginger beverages. Jamaican ginger beer? Spicy Jin+Ja? Yes, please! That said, I had high hopes that this was going to be as bold as the all CAPS label promised.

Heads or Tails?

Swedish Fish Tails
Is there anyone out there that prefers the mixed-flavor Swedish Fish to the original red?

Maybe I'm just a Swedish Fish purist, but red fishies are the only fishies for me. However, it seems like Swedish Fish as a brand are changing with the times and branching out. We now have tropical fish, Crush Soda fish, and these fruity two-toned fish joining the...ocean? Tank? Family?

Whatever the terminology, It's nice to see a classic candy changing with the times, but will these new flavors live up to the original?

When I See-food, I Dip It

Seafood Dips - Aldi
I am pretty sure I heard someone raving about Aldi's Crab Rangoon dip, but I can't quite remember who. Anyway, when I spotted it, and a Lobster Roll version, I figured I would give it a shot.

More often than not, I judge food products based on their first impressions, but here I decided to give it a bit more time. Mostly because my first taste of either dip was really underwhelming. I more-so tasted the creamy bases than anything else and texturally I found them unappealing. I decided to grab the Aldi-versions of Wheat Thins and give them each a try as an after-work snack to give these a fair shake, and these are my findings:

Feeling Salty

Sea Salted Caramel and Chocolate Truffle Pint - Lidl
I decimated the banana pint last week, so it's time to crack open something new. Let's see how the creatively named "sea salted caramel and chocolate truffle" compares.

An Unconventional Taco Tuesday

Crispy Taco Chips - Aldi
Today is Taco Tuesday and I just so happen to have a bag of taco-themed chips in my stash begging to be reviewed. (It's almost like I planned it or something.)
Before we jump into it, I just want to take a moment to appreciate this packaging. This won't be mistaken for Lays or any other name-brand product, but it still manages to catch the eye with it's bright colors and patterns. Even the food imagery is crisp and appealing. Although it looks more like a Taco-Bell-taco than anything authentic, which is a promise a flavored potato chip might actually be able to keep.
