Sometimes Tipsy? Hard Ginger Ale Review

Not Your Father's Ginger Ale - WineWorks
Last week was insanely busy, and this week is shaping up to be more of the same, so I've been doing a lot of things I wouldn't normally do in order to survive. I'm drinking coffee to keep me going during the day and now I'm having a boozy beverage as the sun goes down? Who am I? What is happening to my life?
This has actually been in my fridge for quite a while and I figured it might be a good way for me to wind down tonight before going back to the grind tomorrow, so let's see if this boozy soda is worth the extra calories!

Birthday Cake Brand Strawberry Shortcake Wine- Wine Works: Cherry Hill, NJ

Birthday Cake Brand Strawberry Shortcake Wine- Wine Works: Cherry Hill, NJ

It's been a long time since I have reviewed anything alcoholic, which make sense since I rarely drink, but I was out buying some mead as a gift for my friend Sean's birthday and this packaging caught my eye.

Vanilla Peach Tea - Matchbox: Washington DC

Vanilla Peach Tea - Matchbox: Washington DC
I’m back from DC with some foodie photos!
I met a lovely gentleman in The National Portrait Gallery who recommended a local restaurant, The Matchbox. Sadly, I hit the dinner rush and the wait for food was a bit too long for me to have a meal. Instead, I grabbed a drink at the bar.
I like sweet drinks, so I ordered off the “girlie” drink menu.
vanilla peach tea
absolut vanilla / peach schnapps / peach puree / ginger ale / iced tea
For a mixed drink it was fairly strong, but nothing I couldn’t handle. The tea was really delicious, it tasted fresh brewed, and the puree was very sweet. The liquor mixed well with the other ingredients. I really liked this a lot! (Here is my review of Peach Schnaps on it’s own.)
It’s a shame I couldn’t grab any food here, the menu looks amazing, but I plan on checking them out the next time I’m in DC.

Southern Tier Crème Brulé Stout - ???

Southern Tier Crème Brulé Stout - ???
Sorry for the last two updates I missed. I threw a party and that kept me pretty busy. Setting up, cooking, cleaning up….you know how it goes.

This was something my awesome friend Jamie brought to my cookie swap Saturday night. THANK YOU JAMIE!

I had seen this around the internet, but my local liquor shop ALWAYS sold out. The shelf is always clear every time I visited the store! I am not a big beer drinker, but I had to see what all the fuss was about.

Pinnacle Cotton Candy Vodka - ???

Pinnacle Cotton Candy Vodka - ???
Another little birthday gift from my boyfriend. (I got this back in October but I haven't gotten around to reviewing it.)
Now, I am not a big drinker, and I am no vodka expert, so take this review with a grain of salt. I am just a 20-something foodie who likes their booze to taste like candy and food. If you're like me and prefer your alcoholic drinks to taste yummy, this review is for you.

Due to the consistent packaging and design for all Pinnacle products, I’ll skip over the aesthetic part of my review. (Although I will say that all my Pinnacle bottles look so nice next to one another.)
As soon as you twist off the cap it is blatantly obvious that this vodka will be sweet. It smells sugary, but there is still an alcohol aroma. In fact, the scent reminds me of this cotton candy perfume I used in middle school called Juice Bar. (Does anyone else remember that stuff?) The initial scent doesn’t bring cotton candy to mind, but it does have an indiscriminate candy smell.

Taking a sip, the vodka tastes as sweet as it smells. I'm not someone who usually does shots, but I think I could handle a few of these. There was more of a burning sensation for this flavor than the pumpkin pie version, but it isn’t as bad as the Wave flavored vodkas I reviewed before.

As far as taste, it isn’t very cotton-candy-like on it’s own, but I could see it being a good addition for a mixed drink. (This would mix well with cream sodas and other sweet beverages.)

Pumpkin Pie Vodka -Pumpkin 2012 Haul

Pumpkin Pie Vodka -Total Wine in Cherry Hill, NJ

I am collecting all of my pumpkin posts from last year and re-posting them here on Blogger to make a comprehensive collection. Here is the original Tumblr post.
Time for some tipsy-pumpkin-action.
I had seen this around, and I wanted to pick it up…but I had been burned by flavored vodkas before. Those Wave vodkas I reviewed…were honestly terrible and I am STILL stuck with them. So I held off on buying this one until I could talk to a bartender.
One of the guys at The Black Sheep in Philadelphia told me that he went through a whole bottle the night before at a private party! That was all the push I needed.

Stoli Salted Caramel Vodka - Liquor Store : Wildwood, NJ

Stoli Salted Caramel Vodka - Liquor Store : Wildwood, NJ
Another mini bottle I grabbed at the liquor store. This has been a big year for sea salt, and it seems like I am seeing salted caramel everywhere these days. I was wondering, would the flavor do well when mixed with drinks?

The bottle is a nice size and it is actually made with frosted glass, not plastic. I always love when bottles are made with glass, because they are usually really cute and I can reuse them in crafting project or when I make my own bath supplies.

When opened, it smells like a really good caramel. I can smell burnt sugar notes, and the alcohol makes it seem like a perfume!
