A Scoop of Seasonal Flavors - Thanksgiving Ice Cream
I have been super into Thanksgiving flavors this year, more than ever before. Normally I try and restrict my food purchases to in-person only, but these flavors sounded so perfect and fed right into my cravings. So I made an exception.
This is the first time I have ever bought fancy ice cream from the internet. (They're available locally as a normal shop, but no where near me.) There were five different flavors in this release, and they came packaged in a recyclable cardboard box, with insulation that I am using in one of my winter cat shelters, and dry ice. Dry ice is so cool, and I have never gotten to play with it before, so I tossed some into a bowl full of water and added food dye to make fun videos on Instagram.
I haven't had a spoonful yet, and I am already getting my money's worth out of this purchase. Let's jump right in.

And now for something completely different - Mac & Cheese, Mashed Potato, Dinner Roll, and Thanksgiving Feast Candles
DW Home Candles
I love food smells. Which is a weird descriptor, but it's the most accurate way to convey my preference to people working in perfume or candle shops. (They always look at me like I am crazy.)
Foodie smells must not be popular, because everything I love always ends up being discontinued. It started with Juice Bar cotton candy and gummy bear scented perfume in middle school, then Jessica Simpson's edible cosmetic Dessert line, and then the Dessert Delights line from Bath and Body Works. Each one was amazing, and each one was discontinued after a few years. Just like my favorite deodorant. Strawberry Teen Spirit was my go-to for over a decade, but a few years ago they stopped selling it in America. (You can still get it in Canada but it's a smaller size and super expensive to import.)
Which brings me to today's post. DW Home is a candle company, and in the last year or two, they started making some foodie scents, and not just desserts, but savory foods too. And for some reason, you can buy these at TJ Maxx for like, half the price than what is listed on their website. So, I went to TJ Maxx, scooped these up, and here we are.
Let's sniff some savory candles!

I Don't Know If I Need You - Pepsi-Cola Soda Shop Black Cherry
Pepsi Cola Black Cherry Soda Shop - Wawa
Maybe it's because I was a rebellious teenager in a Coke-household, but I prefer Pepsi.
I'll drink Cherry Coke when I visit my mom (who usually keeps a few cans for me), but when I'm buying soda for myself, I always go Pepsi. I feel like Pepsi tastes a bit zippier, bolder, and their Generation-themed ads in the 90's with the Spice Girls continue to take up space in my brain all these years later. (Move over, yeah! Don't do it over!~)
Cherry cola is my go-to drive-thru beverage. I prefer Pepsi, but I'll take Coke when needed and if neither is available it's good ol' Dr. Pepper. (BUT If there is a Coke Remix machine, it raspberry Coke, 100%) Basically, I love fruity colas. So when I saw Pepsi launched this semi-retro Soda Shop line I headed straight for the cherry flavor.

Aldi's Journey to Japan - Take 2 - Ponzu Ginger
Journey to Japan Ponzu Ginger Chips -AldiAldi likes to release "around the world" products, with a particular recurring focus on India, Germany, Italy, and Japan. These were the flavor companion to the Wasabi flavored chips I reviewed a little while ago, and the newest addition to the "Journey to Japan" line.
If you haven't already read my wasabi review, spoiler alert, they're good, but not great. I am on a mid to high tolerance range for wasabi/horseradish, it takes a lot for me to feel the burn, and I wanted those chips to pack a punch. They didn't. Here's hoping that this flavor is a bit more unique and flavorful.

All the Fun, Without the Trauma - Skittles Shriekers!
Skittles Shriekers!Zombie Skittles embodied the impish nature of Halloween. Each candy you consumed may be a treat, or a vile, rotten-zombie-flavored trick. That said, the concept was fantastic, but the end result was that I felt hesitation, and a mild fear, while eating Skittles. Think of the episode of the Simpson's where Lisa tests Bart to see if he is smarter than a hamster using an electrified cupcake. After a few vile, onion-y, rotten zombie flavored Skittles I found myself not wanting to eat the rest of the bag. I ended up taking them to work where a coworker or two gave them a shot, and then, once the novelty had worn off, into the trash they went.
Did I love them? Yes, but more-so in theory than in practice. I mean, no one is buying Bean Boozled boxes for casual snacking consumption, it's a fun game, and gross novelty, not a yummy snack. Same goes for Zombie Skittles. When I heard that Shriekers would be replacing them this year, I was intrigued. Same concept, but (hopefully) slightly more edible and less miserable.
I'm in!

Snap, Cackle, Pop! - Ghoul-Aid Popping Candy
Back in 2015 I reviewed pouches of Ghoul-Aid, but those were blackberry flavored, so I think this product might be a in-name-only kind of deal. It says "Ghoul-Aid" and it's purple, but according to the illustration, it's generically berry flavored.
With Halloween items getting discounted and disappearing from shelves, let's see if it's worth scooping up.
