Papa John's Wisconsin Cheese Stuffed Cheesesticks (Quickie Review)

Wisconsin Cheese Stuffed Cheesesticks - Papa John's $6.00
I have (somewhat) rejoined the land of the living! Time to celebrate with some cheesy bread sticks and pizza. (Because I had a 50% off coupon code. #frugalfoodie)

My family's go-to bread-stick option is the finger-like garlic Parmesan sticks. When I went to place my order I saw an ad on the main page for these "new" cheesysticks that were released at the very end of December, and the photos looked really appealing. I decided to throw caution to the wind and give these a try. (Against my family's wishes, so I ended up ordering both bread sticks along with a large pizza. So many carbs!)

The Double Cheeseburger Pizza is back! (Now with +1 Bacon)

Oh man! It's back! I have been missing this pizza! I reviewed it last year, and was one of the few food bloggers to really enjoy it, so I've very happy (and slightly surprised) to see it return. (Although we all knew if it was coming back it was totally going to have bacon. We all saw bacon coming a mile away.)

I missed this pizza so much, that I even made my own recipe, but now I won't have to! I'll definitely be ordering this later this week.

Are any of you excited that it's back? Or am I the only one?

Philly Cheesesteak Pizza - Papa John's

Philly Cheesesteak Pizza - Papa John's
There's a new Papa John's pizza on the block, and it's attempting to emulate a food I grew up with, so the steaks (get it?) are high on this one. I am located in New Jersey, and Philadelphia, which is known for it's soft pretzels and cheesesteaks, is literally right next door. I grew up eating these things from all the great restaurants. Pat's. Geno's. You name it, I tried it. Although I am not loyal to any one restaurant, I know a real cheesesteak when I taste one. Can Papa John's actually do a good job with this one?

Fritos Chili Pizza - Papa John's: NJ

Fritos Chili Pizza - Papa John's: NJ
Oh wow, I haven't reviewed a Papa John's pizza since August. It doesn't feel like it's been that long since a new flavor was released, did I miss one?

I've already said this (multiple times, I bet you guys are sick of hearing about this) but I haven't enjoyed a limited edition Papa John's pizza since the Double Cheeseburger one. Apparently I was one of the very very few food bloggers who enjoyed that pizza, but ever since, I feel like these new flavors are something I can easily make at home with a few ingredients I already have on hand. (Like that Sweet Chili Chicken or the Greek. Toss feta on a veggie pizza, or some chili sauce and chicken and it's the same exact thing.)

This time Papa Johns is selling a pizza with Fritos on it. Am I a sucker for buying a pizza covered in Fritos? We'll see...

There's a new Specialty Papa John's Pizza, and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Frito's Chili Pizza - Papa John's
Happy Halloween everyone! I'll be posting fun Halloween related stuff once I get home from work, but in the meantime, what do you guys think about this new limited edition pizza?

I've tried a LOT of the Papa John's pizzas that have been released this year, and other than the double cheeseburger, I feel like they've all been boring and forgettable. The Greek was a veggie pizza with Feta, the sweet chili chicken was a normal pizza with the sauce replaced with sweet chili sauce (that I can easily buy at any grocery store), and the pulled pork pizza was more like rejected jerky. This time we have a pizza that's covered in Fritos, which could be interesting, but I wonder if they retain their crunchiness.

Even though I am not really excited for this new pizza, curiosity will get the better of me, and I bet a review on this will be up before the week is out. Are any of you excited for this pizza? How'd you feel about the last few limited edition pizzas Papa John's threw our way?

Quickie Review: Spicy Pulled Pork Pizza - Papa John's: NJ

Spicy Pulled Pork Pizza - Papa John's: NJ
I'm back from Baltimore! I was hoping to update each night from my hotel room, but the wifi was an absolute mess. (I should have known better. 30,000+ people and free wifi? It never had a chance.)  I'll be posting more about that on my art blog, but right now I need to get back into the swing of things, so to kick things off I have this quickie pizza review.

There's a new Limited Edition Papa John's Pizza Available!

Spicy Pulled Pork Pizza - Photo © Papa John's Pizza
Okay, the Greek and Sweet Chili Chicken pizzas weren't that interesting for me, and to be honest this one doesn't look too appealing either, but the spicy aspect makes me want to check it out anyway.

The promo for this pizza says that the ingredients are:
Hickory smoked, slow cooked, tender shredded pork. Crushed red pepper, BBQ sauce, Sargento's Habanero Pepper Jack cheese.
The ingredients sound pretty interesting, but it still doesn't sound as good as the Double Cheeseburger Pizza. My boyfriend and I will order one this weekend and let you know if it's any good.

Quickie Review: Papa John's Greek Pizza

Greek Pizza - Papa John's: NJ
Apparently I have been going against the food blogger grain. I was really disappointed in Papa John's last new Pizza, the Sweet Chili Chicken, but I loved the Double Cheeseburger one. (Please bring it back!) Apparently that is the total opposite view of my food blogger brethren.

I really don't see what was so special about that Sweet Chili Chicken pizza, I found it really underwhelming, but that didn't deter me from trying the new Greek themed pizza that was just released.

Papa John's is going Greek with their newest Pizza

Image © Papa John's Facebook Page
There's another new pizza over at Papa John's, this time they are going for a Greek theme. Although I wasn't a fan of the Sweet Chili Chicken pizza, this one looka a little boring by comparison, but I still plan on giving it a try. (Maybe this weekend.)

Quickie Review: Sweet Chili Chicken Pizza - Papa John's: NJ

Sweet Chili Chicken Pizza - Papa John's: NJ
Remember this post?

This new flavor had me a bit skeptical, but I decided to try it anyway. I don't follow sports, so the only way I know our local teams win is when I receive a 50% off coupon in my email. (Go sports! Yay pizza!) I figured it was pretty cheap, since I got a smaller pizza, and the last new pizza I tried turned out to be really yummy, so why not give this new flavor a try?

New Pizza at Papa John's!

Although I was skeptical of their last new flavor, the infamous pickle covered Cheeseburger Pizza, it turned out to be pretty yummy. I think I might have to give this one a try.

Quickie Review: Cheeseburger Pizza - Papa John's: NJ

Cheeseburger Pizza - Papa John's: NJ
Some of you might have seen Papa John's new cheeseburger pizza advertized a few days before the Superbowl. (I don't know if all Papa John's locations are advertizing it the same way, but our flyer says "It's the one with pickles!") That's right, it's pizza with pickles that is supposed to taste like a cheeseburger.

Papa John’s Buffalo Chicken Pizza - Papa John’s, NJ

Papa John’s Buffalo Chicken Pizza - Papa John’s, NJ
My boyfriend and I decided to be lazy and order some pizza for lunch, so we ordered some Papa John’s.

I love the tangy sweetness of the tomato sauce Papa John’s uses. The taste reminds me of the Tombstone pizza sauce that used to come with pizza Lunchables. (Maybe that is why I like it so much? Taste-nostalgia?) Now that I am older I like spicy things too, so we opted for the buffalo chicken variety instead of our usual cheese pizza.

Papa John’s buffalo chicken pizza comes with chicken, bacon, cheese, and a spicy sauce spiraled on top. (As well as the usual peppers on the side. I love these!)

Visually it was really pretty! It smelled like cheese, hot sauce and bacon. YUM! Now, does it taste good?
YES! It was delicious! I had 3 slices. The little bits of bacon are crispy, the chicken is tender and the sauce had a perfect spicy-level for me. If you like your buffalo style food really hot, add some hot sauce, and I’ll bet you’ll love it too.

Next time you order a pizza, try a little something different. I highly recommend this specialty pizza to anyone who likes buffalo wings.
