Sounds like a PB Snickers without the chocolate. |
Remember this from my Asian food Haul video? It's been sitting it my food stashforeverfor three months, and it's finally time to review it! I'm hoping it's still good, since it's sealed, but that's the trouble with buying and reviewing food items. They build up over time and things may fall through the cracks before I have time to photograph and review them and they may go bad. (I hate having that happen because it's a waste of food AND money.I'm cheap.) I think these are still good to go, since they appear to be some kind of white chocolate candy, but I guess we'll see.
Remember those Vanilla Bean Kit-Kat bars I reviewed a few weeks ago? They were in the same endcap as these and I just couldn't resist. Sure, fancy flavored Kit-Kat bars are all the rage on the internet (and the foodie community), but I've never seen a flavored Crunch bar before, so I had to have it.
Another little gift from my boyfriend. This time it's a bag of little Jelly Slugs, just like the ones in Harry Potter!
I always enjoyed the Harry Potter movies, I have all of them in my movie collection and it was tradition for my sister and I to see them in theaters, but I didn't start reading the books until they were a part of one of my college courses. Now, I get to try some of the candies!
It seems like frozen macarons are available everywhere these days. The last batch I reviewed was from Trader Joe's, which is known for having unique and gourmet food items, but now even convenience store chains have begun selling their own version. Even Walmart! That's right, I got a box of frozen macaron cookies from Walmart. Before I get started let me say that frozen macarons will never be as delicious as bakery fresh ones, the eating experience is entirely different, but I did enjoy the premade and frozen Trader Joe's version (especially the pumpkin ones), how will Walmart's compare?
Last Thursday I stopped by the Food Truck Festival celebrating the new Whole Foods that's being built in my area. Sadly the weather wasn't ideal, it had been raining all morning, so only three trucks participated in the festival, but I still got some yummy food and interesting photos!
Apparently yesterday (June 12th) was national peanut butter cookie day? There are so many food related days! As a food blogger I feel like I should have known, but I ended up finding the new Limited Edition Reese's Oreo's on my way home from work, so my peanut butter cookie post will just be a day late.
When these were first announced I was skeptical. I had assumed that this was just going to be Oreo's standard chocolate and peanut butter flavored cookie cremes combined and that the Reese's branding was just for show, but I was wrong.
Since I was so impressed by the Chicken Club pizza I bought at Aldi, I decided to try another of their "fancy" pizzas. This time it's BBQ chicken themed.
Just a reminder that all my food posts will be announced on my Sometimes Foodie Facebook Page from now on. (Sorry if this gets annoying, but I'll periodically post reminders since I think a lot of you are only following my Poison & Antidote art page.)
Remember that gorgeous honey comb post I made to kick off 2014? The same company makes flavored honeys, and since I love spicy food my boyfriend grabbed this bottle for me to review and cook with.
I was very excited about Aldi's new gluten free line and, even though I don't have any food allergies (other than my mild allergic reaction to tomatoes), I really wanted to try this pizza.
Sadly, that excitement did not last.

I got my hands on one of the fancy limited edition Kit-Kat bars from Japan. This flavor was released in the winter back in Japan, but it just became available in the states.
Yesterday I posted a teaser image of this item on my NEW Sometimes Foodie Facebook page asking what flavor you thought these might be. Although the few guesses I received certainly sounded yummy, no one guessed the correct answer, banana!
I'll be posting photos of items on my page before I officially review them, so check it out if you'd like to see a little preview of what's to come.
Alright, let's feed my banana obsession and get this review started.

It's free doughnut day tomorrow in America, be sure to stop by your local doughnut shop and grab something sweet. What a great way to start your weekend.
Tumblr is being freaking adorable and posting different little dougnuts with messages to celebrate. I love it.
Even though I have reviewed, and enjoyed, a Fentiman's product before, I was iffy about buying this specific flavor. My track record with organic and botanical sodas hasn't been that great, and I feel like they always taste medicinal and perfume-y. I don't think I've liked any of the botanical sodas I've reviewed, but I had to buy this one just for the packaging.

I'm pretty sure this is just cinnamon coffee, but I still want to try it. Cinnamon makes EVERYTHING taste better. |
I am very very far from having a healthy diet (as you can tell from the contents of this blog), but I pride myself on my love of water. Whenever I'm not reviewing some crazy beverage for this blog, I am drinking tons of water. Most of the time I drink it chilled, and occasionally I'll add a lemon wedge or a cinnamon stick (which sounds weird but it is AMAZING), so these quirky beverages I review are a rare treat for me.
With that being said, Mountain Dew may be one of the most sugary sodas on the market. It's very brightly colored, artificially flavored, and it targets the gamer market. This company always comes out with new and interesting limited/exclusive flavors so, as a foodie, how can I not give it a try?
Apparently I have been going against the food blogger grain. I was really disappointed in Papa John's last new Pizza, the Sweet Chili Chicken, but I loved the Double Cheeseburger one. (Please bring it back!) Apparently that is the total opposite view of my food blogger brethren.
I really don't see what was so special about that Sweet Chili Chicken pizza, I found it really underwhelming, but that didn't deter me from trying the new Greek themed pizza that was just released.
Sorry for the breif and unplanned hiatus this weekend. My boyfriend is going out of state for two weeks, so I took the weekend off to spend some time together before he leaves. (Sorry about the lack of posts.)
Anyway, I'm back with another Whole Foods beverage review. I originally went to Whole Foods to get fresh salmon for my upcoming sushi bowl post, but I couldn't resist a trip down the beverage aisle. (I picked up another bottle of Jin-+Ja while I was there too!)
This time it's one of my favorite flavor combinations, honey and lemon!
