I love Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts, and I am lucky enough to have one relatively close to where I live, so I am very familiar with how they taste, but I find that they are more of a textural experience than a flavor one. They're sweet, doughy, and when they're warm, they melt in your mouth. I could eat a full dozen right now and not think twice. But, can popcorn deliver the same experience?
Krispy Kreme Carnival Flavors 2021Some days I come home, make a low calorie meal, walk my dogs, and then pat myself on the back for making good, healthy, life choices. Other days I eat 4.5 carnival themed doughnuts in one night, slap together a video review, and then lay on the couch munching on carrots while it renders at 1am. It's all about balance.
Speaking of balance, I want to applaud Krispy Kreme for leaving the "c" in Carnival and not opting for a "K" to stay on-brand. 'Cause that's...that's just too many "k's." They knew it, and I knew it, so nobody went there and I am thankful for that. Kudos.
These carnival themed doughnuts are available as of yesterday (July 19th) until August 8th. Normally I am way behind on trends, and my food hunting days are pretty much over, but when there is a Krispy Kreme right next to the train you take for work and candyhunting posts that these just dropped...it's a sign. So, if you haven't already watched the video I posted on Tuesday, let's jump into some more in-depth reviews and photos!
As a kid, my grandparents always had jelly beans in their house, but they were either Brach's fruit or spiced flavors, and I was perfectly fine with that, until we discovered Jelly Belly. Flavors like strawberry jam and chocolate pudding blew Brach's out of the water. There was no going back. I remember my mom would buy the large variety boxes of jelly beans with "recipes" printed on the lid and we'd have fun mixing and matching flavors to create new experiences, which was a completely new concept. It was like something out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Now-a-days, I appreciate Jelly Belly's contributions to the candy world, but their products just don't "wow" me like they used to. Maybe all their competition catching up to them with the wacky flavor and mixing trend is drowning out their achievements, maybe their products just aren't as good as they used to be, or maybe my adult taste-buds are just harder to impress. All legitimate factors, but I just don't feel excitement for this brand anymore.

Krispy Kreme offered a classic glazed version of their pumpkin spiced doughnuts, but they were only available for ONE DAY in October. I was hype. I posted about it on the Sometimes Foodie Facebook page, and pretty much count down the days until to was offered, reminded everyone that day that it was out..and I totally forgot to pick some up for myself. I finally remembered after midnight and I was kicking myself. Weeks later, a shining ray of hope appeared.
Krispy Kreme was bringing this special doughnut back for another one day event in November, so I seized this opportunity and went to straight to Krispy Kreme after work to secure some of these (and a few other) doughnuts.
It's back! I missed out on this last month, but I've got a second chance! The pumpkin spice original glaze doughnut will be available next Wednesday (11/16/16). Are you going to give it a try?
Apparently it is National Kreme-filled Doughnut Day, so here we are! I picked these up after seeing a 30th anniversary screening of Labyrinth with my sister. On our way home we passed a Krispy Kreme and, well...we just couldn't resist. We got hot from the fryer glazed doughnuts and ate them in the parking lot. (Like the classy ladies we are.) Then I grabbed one each of the new fall doughnuts to review.
I got one Pumpkin Spice, and one Salted Caramel Latte. I've got one minute left of National Kreme-filled Doughtnut Day to review them...so let's get this thing started!
The new Krispy Kreme doughnuts I posted about last week have been released and (thanks to my mom) I was able to get my hands on 2/3 flavors.
She sent me a text saying her appointment was near a Krispy Kreme shop and she generously grabbed me a Tiramisu and a Crème Brûlée doughnut. (Thanks mom!) They were out of the Churro variety, but to be honest, that one seemed rather lazy to me. It's just a cruller dusted with cinnamon sugar, and I doubt it's really worth checking out, so without further delay, let's get this review started!

I was looking at the Krispy Kreme website to see what's new, since I'll probably be picking up a dozen this weekend, and this is what greeted me on the home page.
Churro seems like a little bit of a cop-out, since it appears to be nothing more than a doughnut with a cinnamon and sugar coating, but the other two sound pretty yummy. I'll have to keep my eye out for release dates.
Oh boy, free ice cream today, free pretzel the 26th, and buy one get one dozen doughnuts on the 28th. This is a good month for food!

Welp, the wifi adapter on my main computer is kaput. It lasted over a year and I was really happy with it, but today, out of the blue, it wouldn't connect at all. I thought it might be loose, so I reached to remove it, and it felt like molten lava. I let it cool, then attempted to reconnect it, which worked, but it quickly started reheating and then the internet was gone once again. I already ordered a replacement, so in the meantime I'll be using my older computer that is directly connected to the internet for my reviews. So sorry if things look a little wonky, it's been a while since I've used this one and the monitor might need to be recalibrate.
Anyway, my mother decided to treat my sister and I to some doughnuts, so what better time to try this pumpkin-y limited edition doughnut?
The delicious and pumpkin-y seasonal sweets are already starting to reappear on the shelves, but thankfully Krispy Kreme is holding off until September. I love pumpkin as much as the next food blogger, but August is just too early!
Be sure to try the Summer Classic flavors at Krispy Kreme, Banana Pudding and Carrot Cake, before they get replaced!

Krispy Kreme's Pumpkin Spice doughnuts will be returning September 1st, so I figured I should hurry up and review these two "Summer Classic" doughnuts before they're replaced!
Krispy Kreme's Caramel Coffee Kreme doughnut was pretty impressive, and it actually tasted like coffee and caramel. My coffee addicted boyfriend loved it, and I really enjoyed it too, so I highly recommend grabbing one before this flavor disappears. Now, let's see if the Mocha version is worth checking out.

Yesterday we lost an hour (due to daylight savings), but Krispy Kreme softened the blow by offering all of their customers a free glazed doughnut!
My friend Joe went to claim his free doughnut and ended up buying 2 dozen of the new coffee themed doughnuts to share, which was really awesome. (Thank you Joe!) I grabbed my cellphone and snapped some pictures just so I could post this quickie review.

That's right, doughnut chips. Obviously, this is NOT a diet food, but it's not as bad for you as you might think.
The key lime cheesecake doughnut I reviewed yesterday was pretty yummy, even though there wasn’t much filling, but how will this cake doughnut taste?
This time, the doughnut has a cake base with the same key lime icing, but the whole thing is topped with cream.
Right off the bat, this doughnut is a mess! It is a typical doughnut with a hole in the middle, that hole is topped/filled with cream. When I opened the package cream was everywhere!
