Welp, I'm a bad foodie blogger. Friday night had I planned on reviewing the Table 8 Bistro in Collingswood, but I didn't make a reservation. I always saw empty tables when I walked by, the restaurant isn't visible from the main street, and they don't have a website, so I just assumed I could get a table. I was wrong, so I made a reservation for dinner Sunday night and I walked back to Indiya where I was seated right away.
I was flipping through my newspaper this morning when I saw this picture in the weekly Walmart ad.
I'm surprised this one slipped under the radar. I haven't seen this new flavor mentioned on Food Beast or The Impulsive Buy.
Fruit Punch Oreos? I'm not sure how I feel about that, but I want to give them a try.

I was originally going to stick to beverages and restaurant reviews this week, but nothing ever goes as planned. I have to finish filming and editing a few videos this weekend, but in the meantime I decided to throw some Easter candy into the mix.
I've eaten out twice this week and, as EmmymadeinJapan would say, "my gut is officially busted." I love restaurant week, but these portions are so big! (Although they better be big if you're spending the big bucks.) To offset my oncoming food coma, I'm going to review a few different beverages this week. I have a few sodas and juices that I've been meaning to get to, so today we'll be looking at another fancy beverage from Whole Foods.

Time for another Whole Foods beverage review! This time I have something that I found very graphically interesting, but off putting flavor-wise. Chamane, pronounced Sha-man, is made with two things that I very rarely enjoy.

This is a box of novelty gummies my boyfriend picked up for me. Why? Well he knows I'm a food blogger, but he also knows about my secret addiction to Candy Crush Saga. (I turn all those alerts and notifications off and I only play once or so a month. Stupid addicting candy matching game. I try to keep it on the down low.) Now, the last time I had any novelty gummies was back when Angry Birds released THIS abomination. These gummies seem to be made by a different company, so maybe these will be better?
Odd coincidence, but yesterday one of the reviewers over on The Impulsive Buy ended up reviewing the same mocha cookies I did and posted their review on the same day. (What a small foodie world.) It seems like we have very similar thoughts on the cookie being utterly flavorless, but I have to disagree with their overall 5-star rating. I would rate these a 3 at best.
Anyhoo, let's see if today's cookie can be less of a disappointment. I mean, you can't really mess up chocolate and mint, can you?
About a month ago Chips Ahoy! (Do I really have to type the '!' every time?) released four new cookie flavors that were supposedly ice cream inspired. There's Root-Beer Float, Dulce de Leche, Chocolate Mint and Mocha Chunk. I posted a photo of the Walmart display, which was super cute, but that seems to be the extent of their advertizing. I haven't seen any ads for these new flavors. (Have any of you?)
Remember how I used to complain about my local Whole Foods being in a really inconvenient location? Well I started my new job last week, and now I drive past it every day. This means I can grab some interesting items to review in the near future and it'll actually be convenient. (Any suggestions on items I should review?) Last week I tried to pick up a new bottle of the 100% Raw Tea, but it was nowhere to be found. (I hope Whole Foods didn't stop carrying it. It was a really interesting product.) Since I was there anyway, I decided to grab another fancy tea to review.
It's a bad sign, but I am starting to get sick of Peeps. After all of these new flavor releases, and reviewing them all, I kind of hope Just Born stops making new flavors for a while. I'm starting to feel like Francis in Malcolm in the Middle. (Apparently I can only find this video clip in Spanish.)
This is (hopefully) the last flavor I will be reviewing for the next few months. Alright, let's see how these Orange and Creme Peeps taste.

This is a recipe I have been making since 2009. I originally whipped these up for an Art Students League bake-sale, and they were such a hit that I've been making them every year since. I think I might have been the first person to make Irish Potato themed cupcakes and post them to the web, since I couldn't find any other recipe for these online in 2009, but I could be wrong. Anyway, there seem to be a few variations out there now, but mine is still a bit different.
So, here it (finally) is! My Irish Potato Cupcake Recipe.
Krispy Kreme's Caramel Coffee Kreme doughnut was pretty impressive, and it actually tasted like coffee and caramel. My coffee addicted boyfriend loved it, and I really enjoyed it too, so I highly recommend grabbing one before this flavor disappears. Now, let's see if the Mocha version is worth checking out.

Even though I love lemon, I feel like all of the pre-packaged pastries made by Entenmann's taste the same (similar to Dunkin'), so I don't think I'll be buying these.
I have already reviewed the Strawberry Banana version, which was pleasant, but the mild flavoring and overall sweetness reminded me of baby-food. (Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I think these fruit snacks are actually marketed towards mothers with small children.)
I wanted to see if this flavor tasted any tangier so, being a totally mature 26 year old adult woman, I went to the store and bought more fruit snacks.

I've had a few of these Naked juice smoothies in the past, they are something I occasionally grab when I feel like I don't have enough fruit in my diet, but I've never taken the time to write a review. While shopping at Aldi I saw this Blue Machine flavor, which I've never had before, so I thought, why not review it? (This isn't a new flavor by any means, I just tend to buy the same strawberry-banana flavor over and over.)
That's right, even MORE limited edition Peeps.
I was really impressed when the Just Born company decided to stray from their traditional vanilla and chocolate marshmallows, but by releasing all of these new flavors so closely together, the novelty it loses some of it's allure. I mean it's only March, and I have already seen Chocolate dipped Strawberry, Sour Watermelon, Blue Raspberry, Orange and Creme and these Strawberry Creme Peeps. Are these Peeps our American equivalent to the crazy Kit-Kats in Japan?
It's definitely a work in progress, but I think these videos are getting better. (But I might be delusional...)

Yesterday we lost an hour (due to daylight savings), but Krispy Kreme softened the blow by offering all of their customers a free glazed doughnut!
My friend Joe went to claim his free doughnut and ended up buying 2 dozen of the new coffee themed doughnuts to share, which was really awesome. (Thank you Joe!) I grabbed my cellphone and snapped some pictures just so I could post this quickie review.

Since yesterday's post was getting a little out of hand, I broke my Insomnia Cookies review into two parts. Check out yesterday's post to see my thoughts on this company, the packaging, and their chocolate chip cookie.
I wasn't head over heels in love with the chocolate chip (even though it was delicious), but there are still 4 more delicious cookies to review!
I don't think I have ever mentioned this before, but I occasionally work in construction. That's right, I'm a construction worker by day and foodie blogger by night. (Sounds like an 80's movie, doesn't it?) It isn't a full time position, I occasionally do painting, finishing, sanding and detail work for my step-dad's company. I have a good eye for detail, so when he gets jobs in fancy (and insanely expensive) apartments in Philadelphia, I usually help out.
Why am I mentioning this? Well I was working with him today, doing some sanding, and there was an Insomnia Cookies store right next to our location! This is a franchise I had heard about a few years ago, and I was really excited to see that I could finally get some cookies to try for myself.
We got a few more inches of snow, so I thought it was the perfect time to make some homemade soup.
I looked through my Pinterest recipe board, since I am still trying to make all of the recipes I've pinned, but I wanted to use ingredients I already had on hand. (Why go out and buy more food when I have a full pantry?) I had 2lbs of frozen broccoli and a full bag of shredded cheese (both from Sam's Club), so the most logical soup choice would be broccoli cheddar, and since I am a total Panera fangirl, I just had to try this copycat recipe.
At this point, all of you know that my boyfriend is a total coffee junkie. He loves anything and everything related to coffee, so he is always finding these crazy creamers and syrups to make fancy drinks at home. I keep pretty up-to-date with sites like Food Beast and The Impulsive Buy, so I tend to know about fancy creamer flavors before they hit the stores, but he managed to find one I had never heard of.
Now that February is already behind us, all of the Valentine's Day candy is on clearance, and Easter candy has hit the shelves.
These are a few Easter items that I really enjoyed and plan on repurchasing this season.
