Limited Edition Yoplait Chocolate Mint Yogurt- Target: Cherry Hill, NJ (Quickie Review)
It's been a long week, and I thought something like this would be a yummy but healthy treat that might satisfy my mint chocolate chip ice cream craving. How wrong I was...

Sweetarts Jelly Beans- Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
Sweetarts are one of my mother's favorite candies, so growing up we always had a theather-style box sitting in a pantry ready for movie-night munching. Between the three of us (my mother, my sister and I), we each had our favorites and we'd easily finish off the box. Since Sweetarts have a special place in my heart, I had to try these jelly beans to see if they were bean-worthy, or not.

Hearty Pizza with Sausage & Pepperoni Chunky Soup- Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
Hearty Pizza with Sausage & Pepperoni Chunky Soup- Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
That's right! Pizza. Flavored. Soup. Let that sink in for a moment.
I love pizza, and I like pizza-flavored chips and snacks, but a soup? It sounds like a bad idea, and it doesn't hurt that the Chunky-line has a pretty rough reputation. When I was younger, the vegetable flavored Chunky soup was my favorite lazy meal, because I'd open the can, dump it into my giant mug, microwave it, and I had an instant dinner! Even then I would admit that it didn't taste the best, but it was very filling and super easy.
After working at Panera bread, all canned soups were ruined for me forever. (Refrigerated or Frozen is definitely the way to go if you're not making homemade.) I'll still have the occasional canned vegetable-based soup when I'm sick, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try a pizza flavored soup. It's just too bad an idea not to try.

Starburst Sweet & Sour Jelly Bean Mix- Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
After the Sour Patch beans ended up being a flop I moved on to another supposedly sour take on this seasonal sweet, and this time it's Target exclusive.

Raspberry & Chocolate Parfait Greek Yogurt - Aldi: Cherry Hill, NJ
Raspberry & Chocolate Parfait Greek Yogurt - Aldi: Cherry Hill, NJ
So the last item I reviewed was a bust. Never again will I ever buy grape flavored yogurt, it just isn't for me. To reward myself for making it through that review, I thought I'd treat myself to another yogurt, but this time it's something that's a bit more my speed.

Chobani Concord Grape Limited Batch Greek Yogurt - Walmart: Berlin, NJ
It's been a while since I reviewed a Chobani flavor, I think the last one I did was the deliciously refreshing Watermelon last August, and I saw that there are currently two new flavors in their Limited Batch line, Green Tea and Concord Grape. I'm sure those some like amazing flavors to some of you, but to me, they are foodie nightmare-fuel. I am not a fan of grape flavored anything due to my childhood experiences with grape flavored medicine, and green tea is a little too earthy for my tastes. (I prefer black tea.) Neither of these appealed to me personally, but my curiosity got the better of me. After all, I've never had a grape flavored yogurt before. Maybe it could be amazing! I decided to take a risk on this one and into my handcart it went.
Lean Cuisine Marketplace Sweet and Sour Chicken - Target: Marlton, NJ
Lean Cuisine Marketplace Sweet and Sour Chicken - Target: Marlton, NJ
Sweet and Sour Chicken is something that all frozen dinner brands seem to offer. It's one of my guilty pleasures that I always keep on hand, although I'm not loyal to any one brand over another. I usually go with what's the cheapest, but I saw there was a new contender in the freezer aisle, and it's packaging was much fancier than the others, so I thought I'd pick it up and do a review. (Plus I was already tired and hungry after work, so it was the perfect lazy dinner night.)

Sour Patch Kid Jelly Beans - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
Sour Patch Kid Jelly Beans - Target: Cherry Hill, NJ
As Cybele said in our latest Candyology101 podcast, Easter is the biggest candy holiday of the year. Since there are so many sweets on the shelves, I picked up a few to let you know if they were worth checking out. (Click here to see all of my previous Easter posts. A lot of those items, including the Carrot Cake m&m's, are back this year.)
If any of you have walked down the seasonal candy aisle you've seen that every candy company and their grandma released a version of jelly beans. Seriously, there are so many varieties! It's no longer just fruit, spice, and Jelly Belly. We now have Jolly Rancher, Laffy Taffy, Nerd, several different versions of Starburst, and even Swedish Fish. I grabbed a few of these name brand novelty versions, because a lot of companies just slap their branding onto a product and that's that. I want to see if these candies are really worthy of having their own bean. To start, one of the brands I was most excited for, Sour Patch.

Candyology101 Episode 10: Easter Goodies Pt.1 (I TRY MYSTERY PEEPS ON AIR!)
Easter is upon us, and it might sound a little bit shocking to some, but Easter is actually the biggest candy holiday of the year! (It beats out Valentine's Day, Halloween and Christmas.) There are so many sweets for us to discuss that it couldn't be contained in one show.
In this episode Cybele and I discuss our favorite Easter sweet, the must-have traits of a good Easter candy, and chocolate bunny eating strategies. Plus, I try a package of the new snazzy Mystery Peeps on air! What do they taste like? Listen and find out!

Irish Potato Cupcakes - My Recipe
Want something sweet instead? Check out last year's post where I shared my own recipe for Irish Potato Cupcakes
This is a recipe I have been making since 2009. I originally whipped these up for an Art Students League bake-sale, and they were such a hit that I've been making them every year since. I think I might have been the first person to make Irish Potato themed cupcakes and post them to the web, since I couldn't find any other recipe for these online in 2009, but I could be wrong.

Irish Champ - Pinterest Recipe Review
Happy Saint Patrick's Day! I forgot this holiday was coming up so soon! I ended up remembering late last Sunday night, so I didn't feel like running out and buying a ton of ingredients since my fridge is already bursting at the seams, so I googled Irish recipes using some ingredients I had on hand and this awesome recipe for Irish Champ popped up!

Zesty Tomato Fit & Active Cracker Crisps - Aldi: Cherry Hill, NJ
Okay, I have been playing with Adobe Premiere all day trying to edit more food related Youtube videos, but I've been having a few audio-related hiccups. Hopefully I'll get that straightened out, in the meantime, I have another snack from Aldi to review.
Every January stores advertize their healthier products in order to make a quick buck off of those of us who make health and fitness related New Year's resolutions. Aldi's no different. Although their Fit & Active line is available year-round, it's rather limited in it's offerings and it's variety, but in January there are always tons of new snacking products added in. The items aren't on the shelves very long, but I managed to snag a few of the savory treats to try.
First up, these Zesty Tomato Cracker Crisps.

Apple Sidra: The Unofficial Beverage of Steven Universe?
Apple Sidra - Asian Food Market: Cherry Hill, NJ
Back in 2013, when Sometimes Foodie was a tumblr exclusive blog, I reviewed this beverage, it was really yummy and refreshing, but I hadn't thought about it much since. Then I started watching Steven Universe, and it was popping up everywhere! Okay, maybe not every where, but it was in at least three episodes.
Screenshot from Lion 2: The Movie
Can we talk about Steven Universe? This show is adorable, deceptively complex, and it's absolutely amazing! Plus it has some really cute foodie references. Not only was there Apple Sidra, but those cheese balls look a lot like the ones sold by Utz-brand snack foods, and there are mentions of durian juice boxes, cookie cat ice cream sandwiches, and Steven has a handy dandy Cheeseburger backpack!
Since this week is really important for the progression of the story in the show, I celebrated with some Steve-esque snacks of my own.

Have any of you seen this show? I know it's a cartoon, and it might seem silly to some of you more serious people out there, but this reminds me of Jim Henson's Dinosaurs. The imagery looks like it would be something for children, and it has it's silly moments, but the content occasionally gets pretty deep and dark. If you liked the gut-wrenching Ice King and Marcie episodes of Adventure Time, you'll love this. Plus, it has tons of fun foodie things! The staff and crew celebrate the release of each episode with a unique food on their blog.
Okay, I'll stop being a nerd and I'll get back to writing up tonight's review, but seriously, give this show a chance. It's adorable and foody, what's not to love? (Also it may or may not make me cry like a child.)

Korma Sauce - Aldi: Cherry Hill, NJ
Korma Sauce - Aldi: Cherry Hill, NJ
A little more than a year ago Target had this wonderful Vindaloo meal kit that was inspired by Indian cuisine. It was delicious, and spicy and easy to make...but it was discontinued. Why?! There were a bunch of consumers complaining that the meal was too spicy, and Target has since pulled the items, lowered the spice levels and released similar products, but they've never been the same. The boxes were very clearly labeled, and it was obviously a spicy product, it's such a pity because I really like Indian food, and that kit was very close to my usual order from my local Indian restaurant.
If any of you shop at Aldi, you've noticed it goes through themed phased, and nearly a year after my delicious spicy meal kit was discontinued, Aldi went through a "Indian phase." They released their own version of some Indian-inspired sauces, along with a few other items, and I had to give them a try. I bought two different bottles, so this korma sauce is up first!

Random Stuff I Never Wrote Full Reviews For - Part 2
Stuff that never got to be reviewed - Part 2
I tend to photograph a lot of the foods I eat, but not all of them make it onto the blog. I have quite a pile of photos built up, so I thought I'd do a post giving really quick reviews for them. (Since I already took the photos.) I already posted three items here, and today I have three more!
First up, S'more flavored Cotton Candy!

Bolthouse Farms Multi-Y Goodness Cherry - Aldi: Cherry Hill, NJ
I've reviewed quite a few flavors of these Bolthouse smoothies, and I like them a lot, but I only buy 2-3 bottles a year. It packs a lot of fruit into each serving, which is awesome for those of you on the go, but it's a pretty pricey product. I know there are some people out there who drink one of these each day, and if you can afford that, all the more power to you, but I only buy these when they show up at Aldi. Like most name brand Aldi items, they come and go at random, so you'll never know when they'll be around and what flavors will be offered. Since they are kind of rare, when I see a new flavor, I just can't help myself, so into the cart it went.

Black Forest Triple Layer Fruit & Vegetable Juice Gummies -BJ's: Marlton, NJ
What a busy weekend! Yesterday was the 2nd ever Camden Comic Con, which was a lot of fun, but it's also a lot of work. I had my own table at the event where I sold my art and jewelry creations, so after several hours of selling on the convention floor and dancing along with the music, I was dead tired. When everything was over I packed up my stuff, came home, and treated myself to a nice long nap. When I woke up to update Sometimes Foodie... my internet was down. Just my luck, right? After a few hours dealing with tech support in both their chat forum and on the phone, my internet was up and running again around 4AM. At least it's back up and running now, so I'm going to queue up some posts in case it happens again.
For today's post I have a little something I bought at BJ's, and unlike most of my reviews where I try it for the first time as I write, this time I've been eating a pack of these gummies 5 days a week for nearly a month. Let's get started!

Good & Delish Dark & Sinful Pear & Almond - Walgreen's: Pennsauken, NJ
Good & Delish Dark & Sinful Pear & Almond - Walgreen's: Pennsauken, NJ
If you've listened to our most recent Candyology101 podcast, you'll recognize this bar from my rants and ramblings about store-branded candy. Way back in July, I bought and reviewed THIS pear and almond bar from whole foods, which was a store-branded item, and I thought it was really delicious. Even though I liked it a lot, I rarely shop at Whole Foods because things can get pretty expensive, and it's a bit out of my way, so I hadn't had another bar since.
Flash forward to winter's ever awesome cold and flu season. I was at Walgreens picking up my cold medication and I noticed the same flavor combination was being offered in their Good & Delish candy bar line. Could these be the same bars? The Walgreen's version was really affordable, and I figured I deserved a little treat since I was sick, so I picked it up. Oddly enough we decided that our theme for the most recent podcast would be store brands, so this worked out awesomely. I know I already talked about it in the podcast, but I figured this item was worthy of it's own post.
Candyology101 Episode 9: Storebrand Candies
We've all seen, and made fun of, store-brand candies. There's even a Halloween-themed episode of Gravity Falls that revolves around off-brand "loser" candies. (Or should I say Summerween?) Sure, they're fun to pick on, but some of these off brand items are actually pretty darn good!
In today's episode, Cybele and I talk about the good, the bad, and confess our guilty off-branded candy pleasures.
(Click the Candyology link to see all the different items we talk about in this podcast and find out where you can buy it!)

Yoshi Island Gummy Egg - J-Box
Yoshi Island Gummy Egg - J-Box
I posted a little teaser of this over on my Instagram a few days ago. I said it once and I'll say it again, I freaking love Yoshi's Island. I grew up with the original NES, which my mother and grandmother played while I was a baby (That's right, they're that cool.), and when I was older, I had my own SNES with a handful of games. I had Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, and Super Mario World 2, also known as Yoshi's Island. That's it. I would play these games over and over trying to get everything on each level, I'm a total completionist, and I couldn't of been happier.

Brand Name vs. Knock Off - Aldi's Titon vs. Mar's Milkyway
Brand Name vs. Knock Off - Choceur's Titon vs. Mar's MilkyWay
Since we just recorded a store-brand focused episode of Candyology101, which will be out relatively soon, I thought this would be a fun post to write up. I don't think I'll end up making this a regular kind of thing, I just happened to have both of these on hand and I thought this could be kind of interesting.
Normally I'm not a brand loyalist. (Which is why I love Aldi so much.) I usually go with the off-brand items to save money, and a lot of those items are comparable and occasionally better than the big name brand versions, but once and a while a name brand product shows that it's truly superior. MilkyWay has always been my favorite chocolate bar, and so far I haven't found a cheaper alternative. Can Aldi's Titon bar beat it?

Red Velvet Oreos - Target: Marlton, NJ
Okay, these are old news, and the newest flavor of Oreo has already been announced, but I still bought a package of these to review. These have already been covered by quite a few food blogs, but I tend to pick on red velvet flavored sweets a lot, so I thought I might give readers a different perspective.
